I picked them both up on Amazon earlier in the year for $20 so $16.99 sounds like a pretty good price to me.

I understand that some stores may not allow it. But qualify it and say at YOUR store those can't be used on sale prices. I never, ever, never, not once have been refused the use of the 10% off coupons on a sale item. Not once. Never. The computer AUTOMATICALLY deducts the 10%. No CSR override needed.

So by you making the blanket statement, someone may not even try to use the coupon and lose out on that 10% savings.
Well it says it right on the damn coupon. You got them to take it on sale prices, good for you.

Re: Best Buy Prices: 8/16 - 8/22

I just saw in the ad that if you buy any 2 new TV on DVD (DVD or Blu-Ray) releases this week, you get a $5 Best Buy Gift card. That works for me since I was planning on getting Dexter Season 3 and The Simpsons Season 11 on Tuesday.

$6.99 DVDs

2-disc Special Edition DVDs for $9.99

$14.99 DVDs

$16.99 Hayao Miyazaki DVDs Sale

$14.99 DVDs and $24.99 Blu-Rays

$12.99 Blu-Rays

$14.99 Blu-Rays

$24.99 Blu-Rays

TV on Blu-Ray

Comparison thread done. Looks like Best Buy is cheapest on Hannah Montana: The Movie 1 disc SD and BD, Last House on the Left SD and BD, Pete's Dragon: High Flying Edition only if you buy Hannah Montana: The Movie as well, The Simpsons Season 12 either packaging, Gossip Girl Season 2, Sons of Anarchy Season 1 SD and BD, and Greek: Chapter 3. Basically, they are cheapest on pretty much every new release this week.

Re: Best Buy Prices: 8/16 - 8/22

This may be a stupid question, but if I price match season three of Dexter on blu-ray at Best Buy against the Target ad (Target has it for $36.99, BB has it for $39.99), and bought it together with Sons of Anarchy, would I still get the $5 gift card or would that offer be void because of the price matching?

Does Best Buy post their weekly ad on the website anymore? All I can find is a long term ad or a phone ad, not the regular Sunday ad.

My experience with price matching and store exclusives has been that I either take the price match or the store exclusive (in this case, the $5 GC.). Of course, YMMV. Good luck!

Every coupon I've ever gotten has said something to the effect of "discount taken off of regular prices only" or "no sale items." You got some unwitting/uncaring CSR to take it. Good for you. I've certainly never had any luck with it. The fact of the matter is that the blanket statement should be that Best Buy won't take the coupon on sale items. You and a handful of others are the exception to the rule because you're using coupons on something you know you shouldn't be.

You are kinda missing the point. The computer takes the coupon automatically. If the CSR scans it, it works. I don't know where you guys are that the CSRs study the fine print on these coupons butthat sucks for you.

All I am saying is post your experience rather than making a general blanket statement that it doesn't work preventing some poor schmuck from even trying. What is the worst that could happen?? The 19 year old CSR says I can't take this??

Re: Best Buy Prices: 8/16 - 8/22

When these coupons 1st started coming out, I believe there was a glitch that allowed the 10% off to be taken off sale prices. However, at least from my experience, that glitch has been fixed and it won't take it off sale prices.

If you attempt to buy a TV on DVD set that's say on sale for $24.99, but the sticker says $43.99, you will be charged the sticker price and have $4.40 taken off.

Perhaps you could buy Dexter and Sons of Anarchy at their regular prices, get the $5 gift card, then head over to customer service and have them pricematch the Target ad.

For anyone curious about the exclusive packaging for Dexter: Season 3, it's just a clear/red slipcase.

Re: Best Buy Prices: 8/16 - 8/22

I went ahead and bought True Blood: The Complete First Season on Blu-Ray for $39.99, minus $10.00 off in Reward Zone certificates I had. So, around $32.50 with tax, out the door! Very good deal. I love this show!
