Hasting's just gets on my nerves, now. They used to offer really good deals, but not any more. Maybe it's because I'm looking at blu-ray instead of DVD, but $20 for a used blu-ray is ridiculous. I've even seen them selling used blu-rays for $20 that they have brand new for the same or less. I went in the other day and found a used copy of Lego Indiana Jones for the Wii for $22 when the price for the new copy was $20. Go figure.

There is a B2G1 deal on their online site, but it's only for select titles (a few TV series are available, like Heroes 1 and 2 and some Family Guys).

At the Hastings near me, this "sale" is always on - including boxsets.
But I've noticed over the last couple of years that Hastings has noticeably given up even trying to be relevant in terms of competitive pricing. Occassionally I've found an inconsistent (mistaken?) price on a new title here and there - but very little selection and the typical used price has even gone up in the last half year or so.

And people wonder why the B&M's are dying...

to be fair, hastings pricing is nothing new. i remember about 5 or 6 years ago, i was looking around for used dvd's and there were many examples at the time of used dvd's that were priced as high or within a dollar or two of brand new ones. i asked a manager about it and he told me that prices were set by corporate. my wife always gives me a hard time because i have a bunch of credit there, but even with the credit, it's hard for me to stomach paying their prices.

I hear ya. A few years ago, they priced all their used boxsets at 50% off the retail price. I made out like a bandit when they had their 30% off used sales.

But the prices are so ridiculous now. They want $32 for used Alias boxsets. $79 for Star Trek seasons. lol No wonder that their used stock gathers dust.

I keeping wondering how long they'll stay afloat - the place is almost always dead whenever I go there and doubt they're making their money on rentals thanks to Red Box & Netflix.

at my location in Fort Smith, AR - they've reduced all Clearance/Used Rentals to $7.99 plus BOGO$1. so i picked up Waltz with Bashir and Happy Go Lucky for just under $10.

plus there's a neat sale on steelbooks - $8.99 each. they had The Proposition, Paris Je'Taime, Dog Soldiers, and some not so good ones.

I just hate how they display the weekly ad so small. You can't read the small print. They need a zoom in feature like Best Buy.
