Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Dropped by a local Big Lots and saw they had restocked with most of the titles mentioned previously. I picked up:

Jabberwocky
My Little Eye
Rise (Lucy Liu) (Unrated version)
Nowhere in Africa (2 disc) - couldn't resist it after seeing Roger Ebert's review on the back: "This is the kind of movie that real people really, really like!"

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I saw a lot of the titles mentiones before in my Big Lots. I only picked:

Wind chill
Goya's ghost's

I was tempted to get Boogeyman, but I don't know how good is it. Can anyone tell me if it worth to get it?

Have many people found Touch Of Evil? I've only seen it listed by a couple of people.

Checked out three different BL's to day and still no sign of Grosse Pointe, Beyond the Mat, All the Real Girls or Class of 1984.

Nowhere in Africa for $3 is an enormous steal. Magnificent film and a great two-disc set, especially for that price. Highly recommend this to all film lovers who find it. Bought it blind years ago and don't regret it a bit. If you see it, grab it.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I found 1 copy of Touch of Evil, 1 copy of Class Of 1984, 1 copy of Beyond the Mat and 1 copy of The Last Starfighter in Harrisburg Pa. The Lebanon and Lancaster stores have been a good source lately. Lancaster has been particularly weak.

Passed up Grosse Pointe, now after hearing the reviews, I wish I wouldn't of left it there. Passed on the Munsters 2 movie pack. Ended up with about 20 total, I'll post my haul later.

FYI: Those still looking for Live and Let Die be sure to check out your local Ross store if you have one. Found the new widescreen version (at Kmart $18) yesterday for $3.99. Jane Seymour has never looked so good and even today at with her at age 58; I'd still hit it

I picked up some of this stuff for the peeps in the exchange thread, so I'll post it there.
I had these listed without a nibble in the exchange thread, so they went back (minus Gross Pointe) to Eastland this evening...

Picked up for me while I was there...

American Werewolf in London CE
The Road to Guantánamo
Hostel
All The King's Men (2006)
September Dawn
Goya's Ghosts

Based on the earlier mention, I picked this one up after work today. It was the only copy I saw. Thanks for the recommendations - looking forward to viewing.

Also found a copy of Backbeat (a before stardom Beatles storyline) which I hadn't seen there before. It was just the 2003 edition, not the CE.

Me too. I stopped after work and mine had the new display, almost untouched. I got "Nowhere in Africa",Munsters 2-movie, "Jabberwocky" and a couple of others already mentioned. No "Basket Case 3","Touch of Evil" or "Backbeat" (which is a good movie). They had about 5 more copies of "Sweet and Lowdown" which were all WS/FS flippers, so anyone that settled for the Fullscreen one might want to check again. I noticed some of the movies were Canadian releases (they had the title in both English and French on the cover). The cover on "Basic Instinct 2" was slightly different from the one I got there a few weeks ago.

I'm a German movie fan & I nabbed this one a couple years back from CBS club fairly cheap. It's still in my ridiculously large to be watched pile, I'll have to move it near the top!

I almost bought this one. I used to like Bloom County, but I noticed it was only 24 minutes long. Any good?

Also, they had many copies of "Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters". I'm not a big fan of wire-Fu. Anyone know if that's worth $3?

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

quatermass, "Vampire Hunters" is an acquired taste, imho. I am a huge Tsui Hark fan - I will see anything that guy is involved in. I think he is the Asian equivalent of Orsen Welles if he retained artistic control and had lots of money. Many may disagree with my opinion of the man.

That being said, this is really one of his weakest efforts. It is actually trying to be an unofficial sequel to the Mr. Vampire film from the 80's, without any main (or charismatic) stars.

So, if you are a huge Mr. Vampire fan, or think Tsui Hark is at least always interesting, then this is a no brainer. Otherwise, buyer beware.

Then again, for $3 to get a modern take on ancient Asian hopping vampires is something that I doubt I could resist anyhow...

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I picked up the Too Cool For School Collection for $6 which was in a pile of $3 titles today. According to Amazon it's new!

Has 12 cult sexy comedies from 70's and 80's on 3 dvd's:

The Beach Girls
Cave Girl
Coach
Jocks
Malibu Beach
My Tutor
My Chauffeur
Pom Pom Girls
Tomboy
The Van
Weekend Pass

As for $3 titles I got:
Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger)
Out Of Reach (Steven Seagal)
Creature Comforts Season Two (US)
Class Of 1984 (Anchor Bay Cult Classic Film Series)
Ringers Lord Of The Fans

Thanks, I've spent way more than that on much crappier movies, so I'll probably get both of these.

that set is almost worth it for "my tutor" alone, a no brainer for those who like teen sex comedies of the 80s, also "my chauffer" is a pretty descent b-comedy, starring deborah foreman from "valley girl". I have a similar set from bci, that i dont think has quite as many films, but most of the same ones as this one has.

I've got a couple extra Tabitha's if you can't find it. For trade or for sale - not trying to profit, just the original $3 + shipping cost.
Just go to my trade list in my signature.
