Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The War at Home, like Joey, there were many, many, many here...

Thundercats, the only DVDs that I have seen here were all busted box sets priced at $6 per... Pass.

Listerine and a Diet Coke time today in Lexington... Really, really, really pathetic looking. Not only is the party over but every damn DVD in the store (Eastland, hello lurkers!) now fits on that one four sided metal thingie... and it is not full. Joey and War are GONE. Nothing of ANY interest, at all. Even the $3 movies... poof.

Has anyone made a Kroger thread yet..because it seems Kroger stores have also gotten shipments of WB dvds. Like 3 or 4 people have reported it on Cheapassgamer..and I just swung by mine and low and behold..they had some WB sets:

Superman Animated Series Volume 2
Tracy takes on Seasons 1 and 2
Veronica Mars Season 1
Nightmares and Dreamscapes
Full House Season 1

They were all marked $7.99. If I wasnt broke I would have picked up Full House and Superman Animated.

I also noticed a few at 1/2 Price books today, though the prices ranged for $10-$20

Tales From The Crypt S1
2 seasons of Dukes of hazzard
1 Season of Flintstones (not in shrink wrap, but several copies that appear to have come in together as new)

Re Krogers: We have 2 here: Fred Meyer & QFC. So far I haven't seen any BL stuff at Fred Meyer. They closed down most of the QFC's a few years back & the closest one to me is about 20 miles so haven't been there in a long time.

I found Thundercats S2V1 and S2V2 (each were the 6 disc versions) early on during this mad scramble here in the greater Los Angeles area...

The only thing left here are a few copies of Dukes of Hazzard and many copies of the extremely rare and highly collectible Joey S1.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Hey, guys. Long time lurker, first time poster, blah blah blah.

Anyways, I was in a Savannah, Ga. Big Lots this morning and found:

Drew Carey - Season One
Blade - The Series
Six Feet Under - Season Three
Friends - Seasons 4,5,6

All six bucks, and I grabbed the only copies of most.

However, they did have a couple of Roots sets, Season 4 of West Wing, Season 3 of Nip Tuck, and a couple seasons of Dallas.

Apparently stuff is still rolling out on the East coast.

Were they the $10 Roots sets or $6 sets?

I wasn't paying attention, but I'm assuming the $6. The $10 price tag would have jumped out at me.

Thankd for the Quick repsonse WRR.

I know this has been probably asked before, BUT IS THE 40 Disc $10 AMERICA'S GAME FOOTBALL SET THE SAME AS THE INDIVIDUAL SUPER BOWL SETS (I-X, XI-XX, XXI-XXX, XXI-XL)?

How hard would I have to look in order to find The O.C. season 4? It's gonna cost me much more than $6 to rent every disc and I'm sure it's a bad season anyhow so why not pay the least amount.

No, they are different. I'm pretty sure the Super Bowl sets are the 30-minute highlight shows that they roll out every year just before SB time. Haven't watched mine yet.

America's Game was an all new production by NFL Films that aired on the NFL Network. It's a one-hour special on each of the Super Bowl winners with new interviews from key players on each team and other behind-the-scenes stuff. It's very well done. Ex: On the episode of one of the 70s Cowboys teams, one of the interviewees is Duane Thomas, who took a vow of silence and didn't even speak to his teammates that season. This was the first time most people have heard his side of the story.

Also checked Woodbridge on Tuesday and they are down to just one 4-sided rack with nothing new added for a while now. The last few trucks had no DVD's. Manager said in the past there have been times where nothing has come for a month then a ton of stuff all at once like this July. Could just be a down time.

^ I got one with the Stanley Kubrick set being highlighted. I think it's the kind of promotional e-mail that uses items that you've searched for previously as an advertisement.

Personally, I thought War at Home was pretty good. I like Michael Rapaport. It is your typical dysfunctional family type sitcom, but the writing was above average. I definitely think you would get $3 of laughs out of it.

On the other hand, the writing on Joey was terrible. It was a shame because the show had very talented actors. They were trying too hard to differentiate from Friends, it had a different tone and the laughs were few and far between.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The Bristol CT BL has the basics.

A few Larry Kings, West Wing, Dukes, Pinky/Brain, War @ Home and even 1 or 2 Joey S1 left.
Quite a bit of 3 dollar movies that came in but no new sets, but they way they have it displayed ---not easy to look at their titles.
One or Two Flinstone S2 unsealed left.

What sticks out from the inventory from the other BLs on my way to work ----what's not picked up ---the Hotwheels package/DVD SET.

It's nice to get back to my bi-monthly visits @ BL.

St Louis area:

Checked Watson Rd and Kingshighway over the weekend and St Peters yesterday (I had a dental appointment in the area). Nothing new and everything that's there has pretty much been picked over.

I was a fan of The War at Home. Unlike most family shows, I actually enjoyed ALL of the characters (both parents, and all 3 kids). I thought the writing was pretty clever as well. Personally, I recommend it, especially for $3

The new display I saw was all MGM movies, and all titles that had been out last year or the year before. Dunno if he saw the same 4-sided cardboard display as me, but it was old stuff. There were probably a few gems in there, but nothing that I was interested in so I don't remember any titles.

Don't remember I'm afraid, but pretty sure they were MGM titles. They looked new-to-me at Sterling, but who knows, as I'm sure I miss a lot of stuff, and can't remember everything that has cycled thru over the last couple years.

I didn't have time to really search, but in my brief scan I knew that I'd pick a few out to buy on my next visit.
