The Muppet Show s1-2, 16.49 each @ Amazon

Just saw these drop in my wishlist:

Season 1

Season 2

Season 3 is still 29.99.

This is the cheapest I've seen them for so far.

Great deal for those that don't have em yet. These rarely go on sale. I can hardly wait til next year when S4 comes out!

Those are part of the "Save Up to 56% on Off-the-Air TV Favorites" sale on amazon. The sale also includes Dinosaurs for $16.49, Home Improvement for $10 among a few others. Great price for Muppet's & Dinosaurs

Is this show aimed at adults or kids? Would the humor still hold up today? Very seriously considering buying these, but I need some convincing. Someone else can feel free to play devil's advocate too.

Just bought these sets at Costco for $13.99 each – I would expect to see similar discounts start to show up at other stores.

Watch this:

If you like it, buy the show.

If you don't, the child within you is dead.

It's a show that's best enjoyed with younger kids, though. If I had any, I'd buy it - as it is, I won't get around to watching it for a few years anyway (damn you, Big Lots!), by which time I might have one.

Like many shows these days, I'd say it is aimed at both kids AND adults. There's a lot of funny zany stuff the Muppets do which kids will love, but most of the guest stars sing songs, and there is some adult humor kids wouldn't get (not dirty humor, but puns or word plays that would go over kids' heads). Also, kids would not recognize many of the guest stars (heck, I didn't even know a few of them like Charles Aznavour). Most of them were selected for the enjoyment of the adult viewers... Here is a list of the guest stars. I still don't know who some of these people are:

The humor would definitely still hold up today. I don't think any of the humor was regarding current events. It's just funny seeing what the Muppets do or say. I also highly recommend the Muppet movies, especially the first one...

Season 1 was pretty weak both guests and humor-wise. Season 2 was where the show started finding its groove.

Apparently they are both being found at Costco for $13.99 right now.

But season 1 had Vincent Price, even though his episode is edited due to rights issues.

We had these on our wedding registry last summer but to no avail. Glad to finally pick them up and at an affordable price.
