Of the following movies, which ones are least likely to be on sale?

When I mean "on sale," I mean stores like Best Buy, Fry's, and Target, ads we get every week and maybe some on Amazon, Deep Discount, etc. I have a list of movies below that I've been wanting to buy but waiting so long because I was hoping for them to be on sale so I thought I would just buy the least likely ones for a regular price. I mean, what's the point waiting for these movies to be on sale if some of them aren't ever, right? I have a vague idea of which are the least likely ones to be on sale but I just want to make sure what you guys think.

Arlington Road
A Tale of Two Sisters 2D
Clerks X 3D
The Conversation
Ice Age 2D
Leon the Professional 2D
The Lives of Others
The Mummy 3 2D
The Orphanage
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest 2D
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End 2D
The Poseidon Adventure 2D
Spongebob Squarepants: The Movie
The Towering Inferno 2D
What Lies Beneath

The Poseidon Adventure is out of print, so that one is not going to be on sale for sure and you'll have to pay a premium if you want it. The other ones can be found pretty cheap at Amazon or Best Buy. You just have to search yourself.

My Crystal Ball says...

Goodburger.

And when did all those movies suddenly have a 3D version where he needed to note he wanted the 2D one?

I guess I'll have to just dig through that bin.

Clerks X is not available in 3D.

Half the movies you list do not have 3D versions yet you made a point to say you were looking for the 2D (i.e. the only one) version.

See, that makes more sense. Let me consult my crystal ball so I can foresee what Target and Best Buy will sell these for in the future...

Ice Age is pretty likely to be on sale when Ice Age 3 comes out on DVD...

Why wait? Most of these 2D/3D titles will be $10 if they are on sale. You can get them for very similar pricing from Half.com today, shipped. Some are very cheap, some are a couple bucks over $10. Look at Like New product that real individuals are selling with decent descriptions. 15 movies for $120-130, I think.

Clerks X does have a 3-disc set. I never meant 3D as in 3D popping out. I meant 2-disc and 3-disc sets. I thought it was obvious. I mean, common sense tells you...

I'm totally with you on the POTC dvds. All three are high on my want list, but not for the $15 apiece (or more!) that most retailers are still selling these for. Have these ever been on sale (new) for less than say around $8.00?

I think you can find them used.

Yeah, but these particular titles are likely to be ex-rentals (with heavy wear). For more obscure titles, I have no problem buying used as it's likely from someone's personal collection and in better condition.

Does anybody think Oldboy (Blu) is going to have any chance of being on sale? Blu-Ray movies are more likely to be on sale most of the time but since Oldboy is a foreign film...

Re: Of the following movies, which ones are least likely to be on sale?

I found Posiedon Adventure for 10 bucks at Half Price Books last week. Used, but the discs were in excellent condition-no scratches, and they let you look before you buy.

Borders has Leon on sale periodically if you can find one that stocks it still. It used to go on sale about once every couple months, last time about a month ago. YMMV. Same for Ice Age. That one MAY be on sale this week there too...12.99, I think. Was last week, anyway.

Spongebob the Movie is pretty cheap now anyway...I'd just buy that one.

The users from Amazon sell Poseidon for about $8.50, so I guess I can buy it there. I have never seen it anywhere, except the first week it was released in Costco.

Common sense would mean you would just write 2 Disc Version and not 2D. Hell, common sense would make you actually search Amazon, Half.com or eBay before posting such a stupid question that no one here could possibly know since we can't see the future.

Anyway, I was hoping that since people in here look at ads every week, that they can use those ads to see a trend on what will be on sale or not. In fact, I did search prices on Amazon but there's no point buying them if they'll end up on sale in later weeks. I was looking for predictions. And sometimes, you don't have to have everything spelled out for you. I mean, why would 2D and 3D mean the format of a film? I didn't put 2-disc and 3-disc because 1) it was obvious what I meant by it, 2) why would there be a 2D and 3D versions of the films I've listed?, and 3) it's longer to type both 2-disc and 3-disc than 2D and 3D.

1. It was not obvious, hence why I asked why you were asking for 2D and 3D versions of films that don't exist. You used a common abbreviation for films.

2. See #1

3. 2 Disc - Copy/Paste. Not that hard.

Again, we cannot see the future. Perhaps this would be better served in the Deal Request forum since this is by no means a bargain for anyone.

I agree with your last statement, but I thought the 2D and 3D was pretty obvious... People always abbreviate here. Why type out "blu-ray" when you can type BD much quicker? I have no problem with that...

Actually, the common abbreviations for dimensions are 2-D, 3-D... with the dash in between. It was pretty clear to me that the OP was referring to 2 disc and 3 disc releases.
