Re: Big Lots Part 4

Going to check out the Big Lots near me before I pick up my girlfriend with the hopes I can snag a Halloween II / III double feature.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I usually don't have any luck finding anything good at Big Lots and last weekend I got a good idea as to why. I went to a movie convention (Cinevent) and almost every DVD dealer there had tons of stuff I've seen mentioned here but could never find ($5.00-$7.50 prices). Those guys must be the ones cleaning out the stores near me every week! I've been looking for "Private Parts" but couldn't bring myself to pay the marked up price when I saw the slashed barcode.

I haven't run into too much of that but it has happened. I can usually find most titles that show up(If I'm quick about it) but I went to an autograph/memorabilia show down in L.A. and one of the dealers had a large selection of generally overpriced dvd's which were littered with Big Lots! titles. Non only were they just as slashed, they were not well taken care of since being purchased. $7 for a slashed, beat-up dvd was not something that appealed to me.

Finally bit the bullet and picked up Tarzan with Jane March the other day. It was $3 and slashed but she's just been in too few movies. This one isn't particularly good but I've never been one to pass on a movie with an actor I like just because it wasn't a good film.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

those looking for "demon night" and "bordello of blood", if you look around at some of the online stores, there is a double feature of the 2 films on 1 disc available at a very reasonable price (under 10 bucks I am sure). I own a copy and both films are in animorphic widescreen. I love off-beat b-movies and I must say, "bordello of blood" is a hoot, dennis miller is hilarious in it.

I saw this new display at the Derry store yesterday. I wouldn't call it HUGE though, it was the same 2 tier cardboard display. Universal (no UPC scratches) and Warner (UPC scratches) titles were in the mix, and a few Sony's too.

Also saw...
Universal:
Arabian Nights
8 Mile
Bustin' Loose
The Jackal
Ride With The Devil
The Last Time I Committed Suicide (FS/non OAR)
For Love Of The Game

Sony:
The Last Time
An Evening w/ Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder

Bandai anime:
Flag (Vol. 1, 2, 3 and 4)
Zegapain (Vol.2)

Frighteners is the old version, not the newer Director's Cut

also, you might be able to find some of these titles (and older BL titles) at Shaws/Osco stores for $3.99.
This week I found:
Grizzly Man $3.99
The Thin Blue Line (missed getting this last summer at BL)

Yes to both. I amended my previous post to reflect that.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Found:

Tremors 2, 3 & 4 (3 & 4 are Anamorphic)
Josie and the Pussycats PG13 version (BL had 3 of them. They also had the PG versions.)
Honey
Skulls 3
Casual Sex
The House of Sand (starring Fernanda Montenegro)

The Last Time I Committed Suicide, it's FS at Big Lots. Was it made in FS only? Because IMDB doesn't list its OAR.

I had just bought Tremors 1 - 4 Franchise movie pack. All Anamorphic for $14.99 at Best Buy. Still a good deal for getting 1 & 2 anamorphic.

Like I did with The Wiz, I'll pass on The Frightners and Xanadu to get the newer anamorphic SE versions.

If anyone is looking for Grizzly Man, I have an extra one. Go to the BL exchange forum.

The Last Time I Committed Suicide was unfortunately only released in FS on R1 DVD (dunno about other areas of the world), which is why I never bothered to grab this. I already have the LVD of it (also FS). If I happen to spot the DVD for $3 I may just grab it because it's a great film....tho this is NJ, so I highly doubt I'll see it.

I have been looking for a copy of the full theatrical version, but everytime I see a copy it is the one that says "edited for family viewing"

I picked up one of the PG13 versions at my local BL today. The PG version "edited for family viewing' is Full Screen and the PG13 is Widescreen and says Widescreen at the top of the front cover. I went to Amazon.com to look at the different versions and they incorrectly show the WS PG13 cover for both versions but the technical details are correct for the PG FF version. From what I've read the differences in content are pretty minor, but I wanted the WS version.

I was checking on this myself before I opened it. The review here on dvdtalk is clear that's it's P&S, so I'm returning it myself.

...and just to confirm that I also saw Josie and the Pussycats in unedited PG13 version in the Derry store too, so they are out there for anyone looking.
