Re: Big Lots Part 4

A new table is on the floor at Knollwood (St. Louis Park, MN.), half $2 titles and half $6 "previously viewed." From the former, I picked up:

The Best of Times (Robin Williams/Kurt Russell)
The Chamber (Chris O'Donnell/Gene Hackman, bandsaw cut thru UPC)
The Cooler SE (Wm H. Macy/Alec Baldwin)
Doctor Detroit (Dan Aykroyd, bandsaw cut thru UPC)
Novocaine SE (Steve Martin/Helena Bonham Carter)
Swimming With Sharks SE (Kevin Spacey/Frank Whaley)
Nat'l Lampoon's Van Wilder 2 disc SE
Wagons East FS (John Candy/Richard Lewis)

Bold=new to list

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Wild man that I am, I went to 2 Big Lots over the long weekend. One of them had nothing new, the other had restocked with an odd assortment of things previously mentioned and a couple of skateboarding/dirtbike boxsets that were $11 and $15. Neither one had the $79 DVD/VCR recorder with digital tuner featured in this week's ad that I mentioned in thread #3.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I've only found the original Ninja Turtles Vol. 4.

Must have been the main dvds everyone was going after.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

in the $2 lionsgate titles, L saw one that looked interesting. a little independant offbeat comedy called "the big empty". great cast, and I saw some pretty good reviews on it.
have picked up some other good small independant films lately at big lots for $3. "the king of california" with michael douglas, and, "the amateurs" with jeff bridges.

Yeah, I hope they don't stop sending dvd's to the stores that get stuck with tons of the $6 junk.

Just a heads up for those interested...

At the store near me that one is the "R" rated version. I did not see any "unrated" versions.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Local NJ stores have restocked with a bunch of $6 used titles. Sorry....that's too much. Thankfully a $3 sticker just somehow magically managed to migrate it's way onto a used copy of "Sleuth".
For $3 I was willing to take it, but not for $6.

Added these to the lists. Thanks.

I went today and there was only more $6 previously viewed, excuse me, enjoyed, titles.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

If some of the people from big lots could see this board they would realize that there isnt as high of a demand of those used $6 movies as they might have thought, and yes, when they do not move as fast as they would like them to, we might not see much in the way of other shipments of titles, just like back when they were sending tons and tons of vhs that noone wanted to the stores.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I found some new anime at my local Big Lots

Flag Vol. 1, 2, 3, & 4
Tide Line Blue Vol. 1 & 3
Di Gi Carat Nyo Vol. 1 & 2
My-Hime Vol. 4
Fighting Fairy Girl Rescue Me Mave-chan
And some random volumes of Eureka Seven.

I grabbed all four volumes of Flag (the complete series for $12!) and left the rest where it lay.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Went to my local Big Lots and picked up "The TommyKnockers" for the wife. I went further down the road to the next town and found some new ones I hadn't seen before. I picked up "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" collectors edition for $8.00. I also saw the Desperado/El Mariachi box set for $8.00 as well as several box sets about WW2 and the history of flight. These are the first box sets I have seen come in since early last year.

Good hunting to all!!

I didn't get my usual advance notice on what's coming in due to the holiday. I should know early Saturday.

To be completely honest, the only difference between the R and Unrated version are the topless menus.

There is one additional scene in the actual unrated cut of the film, but it's so miniscule (a clip of a fat guy making farting noises during auditions to be Van's assistant), that most won't even notice it.

Were the Universal titles' UPC codes slashed? And were these $2 or $3 DVDs? Thanks.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

None of the UPC's were slashed on any and they were all 3 bucks.

Gosford Park
Halloween 2 and 3
A beautiful mind 2 disc
A couple others I remember.
Will update list later when I go back. 4-5 of each title was there.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

No Liongate titles (or 6.00 PV titles) in the lat couple of weeks.

Did see some 4D sets from Topics Entertainment for $7.

One was this:
http://www.amazon.com/Lions-Deluxe-B...3707901&sr=1-2

This is only 4 hours and hardly seems worth the effort.

Also had another nature one (small and large animals or something like that) and a couple of aircraft sets ...

still managed to find a few titles that I passed over before.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Thats strange because mine didn't have any of the titles you listed. Besides the Universal dvd explosion at mine, they just now also received the shipment that everyone else has had for awhile (IE the warner shipment with eating raoul, private parts, demon seed, revenge of frankenstein, Barry lyndon etc.)Mine hadn't seen a new dvd in about 4 weeks with the exception of the 6$ titles and now we get about 3 shipments in one at the same time. CRAZY!

Picked up today as well

The sentinel Universal 70s horror
The funhouse Tobe hooper
psycho 2

Re: Big Lots Part 4

First post here. Been lurking for a couple of months and really enjoying the site. I just recently graduated from law school and am starting back to adding to mine and my wife's DVD collection. Before reading the forum, I never knew that Big Lots sold DVDs (wish the display was better, many of the movies are pretty much at ground level and hard to see). I went to my local Big Lots today (Pearl, Mississippi) and bought the following:

$3 purchases:
The Red Badge of Courage
Rock School
Wassup Rockers
The Maltese Falcon
Art School Confidential
The World According to Garp
Bowling for Columbine

$2 purchases:
High Noon
Grizzly Man

Welcome, Justin. The site is guaranteed to help you spend $$, but save you many $$ in the process.
