Re: Big Lots Part 4

Lexington, KY...

Eastland has the Super Bowl sets, Thundercats, a shit ton of WB titles (including some noir) and some New Line stuff. But not the Bonds or Dukes.

I picked up The Right Stuff SE, Everything is Illuminated and Gothika SE.

The location behind Turfland Mall has most of the Bonds and the Wayne westerns, but not the WBs or the box sets.

Would have picked up some more but I still have a stack of 20 or so to go through from the last time that I went in...

Oh, and the Turfland location has one copy of the Little Women Classic Masterpiece DVD & Book Set for $3. Not really my cup of tea but a steal if anyone local is interested...

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Went back, got Moonraker and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Also bought Duel, Doctor Detroit, Revenge of Frankenstein, and an intriguing-looking movie called Picking Up the Pieces, which turned out to be OOP when I entered it in my DVDaf.

I hit Burien, Wa tonight. No sign of the new Warner batch, they did have the "Dad's Day" batch with lots of James Bond.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I really like it when they set up a cardboard display when they get a new shipment. I wish they would leave that up once the supply has been depleted to spread out the movies that are on the wire racks. Instead, they get rid of the cardboard one and pack the wire one so it is much harder to see what is in there. I can scan the cardboard ones in about 5-10 minutes, while it takes me much longer to go through the wire ones. Plus the wire display is prone to discs toppling over which causes floaters.

I had the same anxiety the other day because I saw there had been a new shipment of $2 titles and I know they are stocking only a few copies of each. There was a guy walking on the other side of the display, and all I could think was: "He's got the last copy of City of Lost Children!"

Re: Big Lots Part 4

A few weeks back when I got to Big Lots they were putting out new stock and the employees were scooping up a lot, they got in The Dark Crystal and every copy was gone in a few seconds because this guy working there bought them all.

There was restock at the Big Lots in Greer, SC since the last time I was there. I picked up:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 1, Part One
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 1, Part Two
The Chateau (Paul Rudd)
Winter Passing (Will Ferrell, Ed Harris, Zooey Deschanel)
A Guy Thing (Jason Lee)
The People Under The Stairs/Shocker two-pack

There were quite a few more I wanted to pick up but I didn't have the cash. I may go back Monday or Tuesday though.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

My closest store had the DVD FOX DADS display, they had a bunch of the Bond films and a couple others... No box sets (they never got any when the Species/Rocky box sets were reported found either so I'm not holding my breath)

Did pick up:
- The Chase
- Young Frankenstein - Special Edition
- Even Money
- The World is not Enough - Special Edition
- Man with the Golden Gun - Special Edition

Would've picked up more Bonds but I was low on cash.

The wire racks were still full of $6 P/V DVDs and a real mess (PC games, etc.)!

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I was at my local BL last night...I was thrilled to find so many different TV Season box sets...all at $6.00 each:

Dallas seasons 1&2, 3,4,5,8
Smallville season 4
Smallville Season 7 on Blu-Ray!
Scooby Doo Movies
Wonder Woman seasons 2,3
Super Friends Vol.2

I passed on other sets like E.R., Dukes Of hazzard, Full House, Knots Landing and Life Goes On...

I hope this is the start of something cool...there are lots of shows that I don't really don't need at full price...but for $6.00 Yay!

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Guess i spoke too soon. They had a big WB restock today at my local BL.
I passed on all the $6 children's animated sets like Thundercats: Season One - Volume One, another Thundercats set that had a slipcover, Animaniacs: Volume 1, a Justice League 3-pack, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?: The Complete 3rd Season and others. These kinda interest me even though i dont like this kinda stuff. These seem like great deals though.
I wish i got some of the live action seasons mentioned in stadbyme's post.
I did pick up:
Jeremiah JOhnson (in snapper)
Pennies from Heaven
16 Blocks (WS)
Lady in the Water (WS) (I dont know why i bought this piece of shit.)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (UR Platinum Series)
Gohkika: 2-disk SE
Where Eagles Dare
Cabaret
Each Dawn I Die
Born to Kill (1947)

I will be going back to pick up the Petrified Forest very soon. Couldnt remember if i had it or not. Also might pick up Chisum.

Maybe because it's actually a good film? I have it on HD DVD and it's one of my favorite titles.

To each their own, I suppose...

WOW! I'd love to find any of these...especially that Smallville Blu!!

I made a run the other day. Two local stores had nothing new. Semi jackpot at the 3rd: They had the Dad's Day selection, but no Bonds. They also had a two-tiered cardboard pallet with many titles I've seen before and some I haven't (like "Apollo 13" and "A Beautiful Mind").

I grabbed "Sylvia" (G. Paltrow/D. Craig), "The Wiz", and "Jesus Christ Superstar".
A word of warning - "The Wiz" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" are both FF non-anamorphic letterbox. OK for those with 1:33:1 TV's, but a bit annoying for those of us with WS TV's. Maybe we should make a list of non-anamorphic letterbox DVD's being found at BL. I also got "Ned Kelly" and "Equus" that way...
