Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I did not see most of the titles mentioned here but I did get a Into The Wild. I went to the same high school as the guy the story is based on went to, although before him.

I went back to my Walmart to get Steel Dawn which is OOP and goes for $80+ on amazon. However, they cleared the damn Swayze stuff out. Anyone else seen this or was my sighting a rare one?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I made quite a nice haul today.

- Sunset Boulevard [The Centennial Collection #1] [2-Disc]
- Roman Holiday [The Centennial Collection #2] [2-Disc]
- The Odd Couple [The Centennial Collection #7] [2-Disc]
- Ringu: Anthology Of Terror [4 Discs]
- Into The Wild [Collector's Edition] [2-Disc]
- Reds [25th Anniversary Edition] [2-Disc]
- Beavis And Butt-Head Do America [Special Collector's Edition]
- Paycheck [Special Collector's Edition]
- An Inconvenient Truth
- Terms Of Endearment
- Norbit

Really only one questionable pick-up, but I love Eddie Murphy and while the movie wasn't great, it was worth $3.

Crazy prices though. I never thought the price of "Into The Wild" 2-disc would go down for instance, the cheapest I've seen it new was $14.99 at Best Buy once. Now all of a sudden it's $3. I picked up an extra copy in case anyone can't find it. I'd be willing to trade it for one of the Centennial Collection discs that I didn't find.

Are #1, #2, and #7 the only three Centennial Collection discs to pop up so far?

Oh man. I wish I could have found Reds or any of the Centennial Collection. I went to the Walmart closest to me and they had a lot of things but not those.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Where is everyone finding the Ringu sets? Region wise...

So far I haven't found any in Jacksonville.
I have a friend in Orlando, and one in Atlanta. They have come up empty aswell.

So maybe the south got shafted?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Checking back is a good idea. My local Walmart had the whole display packed full, and a guy working in electronics told me that they had two full boxes of DVDs in the back that hadn't been put out yet. He was just waiting for a spot to put them. Had him look for other Centennial Collection discs for me but no luck.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Made a quick trip to Wal-mart last night and saw nothing. Wife made a trip tonight and I tagged along and the $3 display was up near the front.

Picked up:

Margot at the Wedding
Ask the Dust
Some Kind of Wonderful
A Mighty Heart
Indecent Proposal
Kite Runner
Jennifer 8
Into the Wild (2-disc) - I still have the one-disc version unopened at home.

None of the other good stuff folks have mentioned...yet. Sounds like I'll have be a little more regular in my Wal-mart stops.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Picked up Into the Wild (2-disc) and An Inconvenient Truth today. The display was stuffed full of titles like Ask the Dust, Jennifer 8, M:I-3, Dreamgirls: Showstopper Edition and Some Kind of Wonderful.

No Sunset Blvd., Roman Holiday or Ringu Collection, but I was thrilled to get Into the Wild nonetheless.

I only visited one store, but it didn't have the Ringu set. I live in the South as well. I guess I'll check back tomorrow.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I have a second Ringu set available to someone who might want it. It's not perfect; there's a small chip out of the bottom of the digipak you can see through the plastic, and the disc theoretically has a "floater", but the two trays are pressed together too close for the disc to actually be moving around that much.

If anyone finds any extra Centennials other than Roman Holiday, I still want 'em. Everything else I had wanted, I found at the Wal-Mart I went to today, plus Beverly Hills Cop and Casshern.

Has anyone seen the $3 display at any Sacramento, CA, Walmarts? Florin Rd. WM was a no go and they had no idea what I was talking about.

I saw one Centennial Collection DVD, Roman Holiday.

They had Chinatown, but regular edition.

Also saw, Casshern. Didn't pick it up because I know nothing about it.

Casshern is fun, but the US version is missing about 40 minutes.

This morning I found that my local Wal-Mart has the first three seasons of Melrose Place for 13.88 a piece! That is an awesome deal if you ask me.

I'm not interested in steelbooks, but Walmart has the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2-disc Ultimate Edition steelbook for $5.00. Same price as Amazon.

I was in my local Walmart last night picking up a couple of things and I swung by the DVD section to look for it, but they didn't have the TCM 2-disc.

So this morning I ordered it from Walmart online for $5.33 (w/ tax), and used the ship-to-store (aka free shipping) option. It beat traveling around to different Walmarts.

I'm in no rush to get it, and last time I used ship-to-store my item arrived in 4 days, as opposed to the 10+ days the system initially indicates. Pickup was quick and painless, too. I was in-and-out of the store in five minutes.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Went again this morning and they must have just put up the display because it was fairly neat.

However, the display at mine had a price tag for these at $4 each.

So I picked up 3 titles.
Ask the Dust
Barnyard: The Original Party Animals
Into the Wild: 2-Disc Collector's Edition.

Mine had about 8 copies of Into the Wild and out of those only 2 were 'No floaters'.

Mine also had some Sony/Columbia titles in the display as well.

Came here to report the same thing.

Visited a different store than the one I found the $3 display at last night. It was marked $4. Found single copies of the Ringu set, Odd Couple, Sunset Boulevard. Multiple copies of Reds, Roman Holiday and An Inconvenient Truth. Also grabbed a horror double feature of Silent Hill/The Dark.

I took the DVDs from the display near the front back to the electronics section and asked about the price, telling the cashier the same DVDs were $3 last night at the store down the road. She indicated the price was just raised this morning. Still couldn't pass up some of these up for $4, but disappointed at the sudden price increase. I thought Wal-mart was known for the price drops!
