Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Curious about that Ringu set.

The Colton, CA store has a few copies of the Centennial Collection two disc set of "Roman Holiday"; three bucks. Bought one to replace my scratched copy. I was hoping to find more - say "To Catch A Thief" or "Sabrina". Nope. Just that.

Also picked up "The Heartbreak Kid". They only had one copy with the exclusive CD sampler - full screen. I looked at it. Seems very generic the music. I passed on that and got the movie in widescreen. Did not see any copies of "Tomb Raider", I was hoping to find it... perhaps with the slipcover.

I did go to the store nearby in Rialto, nope. They don't have a three dollar stand up; not yet.

no problem, it's nice to be able to give back to the community. Totally will have to back and look for Roman Holiday!

I saw many copies of the Ringu set, as well as Beowulf Director's Cut w/ PC Game and The Odd Couple Centennial.

Lots of Into the Wild 2-discs at my location. Would love to swap for a good condition Ringu if anyone finds an extra. Would also pay, for Ringu and Firm/Sky, Odd Couple Centennial.

Drew4824 which version of "Chinatown"?

I hope there are other Centennial titles. I already have "The Odd Couple".

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Ringu ALONE is worth $3. More than, actually. Anyone that loves truly great horror cinema owes it to themselves to try and score a copy of this set. Hopefully my sister will be successful in finding herself a copy tomorrow (I already own it).

I scored a couple of titles tonight... and will check out the other Walmart's near me tomorrow.

Wal-Mart has "Showgirls"? Maybe they've finally lifted their ban on NC-17 rated movies.

Some of the Centennial Collection packages are only moderate upgrades, but that set is fantastic.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I had noticed last week that dvd shelves in the nearest Wal Mart were stripped almost bare, so it seemed obvious that changes were coming. Yep, lots more $5 and $7.50 titles on regular shelves now. Maybe a few more Blu-rays.

On an end panel shelf were the $3 discs. I bought Ringu: Anthology of Terror, Stalag 17 SE, Marathon Man, Roman Holiday Centennial 2-disc, and Sunset Boulevard Centennial 2-disc. Also bought The Spoilers (Dietrich, Scott, Wayne) for $5. Not bad for a trip when I only expected to buy milk.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

No Ringu Anthology in Austin, TX area (45 in Round Rock, Pharmer Ln, Pflugerville, or Ben White locations) so far.

If anyone is able to pick-up an extra copy and willing to ship I would greatly appreciate it, please PM me.

Oh, fuck... I hope my Wal-Mart has that Ringu set.

(One benefit to living out in the sticks is that when something like this shows up, I'm the only person in the area who knows what it is and has any interest in it.)

Wal-Marts around here picked clean. -- Big gap where they should've been.

Is there a special UPC for the Ringu (Is it a sticker over the regular UPC?)

Negative on the Ringu set in the metro Atlanta area. Did manage to upgrade Into the Wild to the two-disc edition and also browsed the old $5 assortment, but none of the new $3 goods -- yet.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Went to 7 Jacksonville area Wal-Marts. All cases pretty full, NOT ONE RINGU SET! WTF?
So anyone in Jacksonville, I just saved you a trip if that's what your looking for.
Covered North Jax, Beaches, and Avenues area. Didn't bother with orange park.

Good news is just about everything else is around, if anyone has an extra RINGU set and is looking for something. Let me know, I'd be glad to swap. I'd also buy a RINGU set for a fair price.

Went to 3 Wal-Marts in Southwest Las Vegas. Not a single Ringu set.

At least I was able to pick up deodorant.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Last night, we scored:

$3.00 The Odd Couple (Centennial Collection #7)
$3.00 Silent Hill/The Dark (Dreadtime Stories) [note; the insert says Silent Hill is 2.35:1 anamorphic, but the disc is labeled Full Screen!]
$5.00 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2-Disc Ultimate Edition) Steelbook (!)
$5.00 Beerfest

Not bad for $16, although we were very upset about the Silent Hill aspect ratio.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Saw two Ringu sets at my local Wal-Mart. They were in the new $3 bin thrown in a big pile. Both sets were already damaged. Going to another Wal Mart later and will check there.

Also, anyone find Beverly Hills Cop III, I found the 1st two.

Found Day Break complete series (Taye Diggs) and seem like every Patrick Swayze movie in the bin.

Damn I want that Ringu set. I will have to scour my Wal-mart and find one, hopefully not damaged.
