Circuit City Liquidation Deals (post your finds here)

It is quite horrible that so many people will be out of jobs, but this is a site for bargains so we must do what we do.
I figured I'd start a new thread for any great deals people find, because the other thread is quite busy.
I haven't been yet, but will get there soon and will post any bargains I find. Feel free to do the same.

Like I said above, that thread is quite busy and it is mainly discussion about the store closing. I thought it might be helpful to have a separate thread for deals found.

Agreed that we need a separate thread. Nobody is talking about deals on the other thread. People are talking about divx or DIVX and how expensive DVD player were.

There's also a similar CC thread in the Stores Discussion forum. Three times the fun! But seriously, there won't be any big deals for a while. At the moment, it's 10% off everything in the store, hence no great deals to mention.

Re: Circuit City Liquidation Deals (post your finds here)

Just left a CC a little while ago and it was a madhouse. Are people really that fucking stupid to see 10% off MSRP as a deal or what? I saw a lot of people grabbing dvds, cds, videogames and other stuff and waiting in their long lines just to pay close to MSRP. Unbelievable.

I agree. The other thread is massive and a tiny fraction of the posts are about deals.

That's because there are no deals.

No deals here. The closing was announced in this morning's paper indicating only 10% off. So... it'll be a few weeks before anything of interest appears.

Danvers, MA CC is 20% off DVDs and CDs, 10% off pretty much everything else. Got what I consider a jewel. Import Electric Light Orchestra DVD for $8.00. Saw this show at Boston Garden back in '77/'78; it's the one that had the flying saucer stage.

Circuit City in Durham N.C. is one of the crappiest anyway and was packed. Stuff was 30% off, dvds were 20%. Nothing to be had. Saw some people with electronics so I don't know if X-box and stuff was on sale.

Most Videogame hardware will be sent back for refund (if they have not been already). Stores make a a few dollars profit selling it and MS/Nintendo/Sony would be happy to have it back.

Yep just like the other thread but there is no deal thats the main problem. I believe people will be posting more deals when they have 40%,50%,60% and more off in couple of days. Right now all CDs and DVDs are 20% off from ticket price and pretty much anything else is 10% off.

Shoot. I was hoping to get at least some money off of an Xbox 360. Those are always MSRP, it seems.

20% off cds and dvds here. 10% off rest. It's really shocking that people were there buying dvds. Most of those dvds are going to be $20+ at CC's regular prices AFTER discount. Just sad.

That's how Media Play handled their going out of business sales.

I'm guessing there are no real deals yet. Mostly the idiots you don't realize the markup then the discount are shopping today.

I think it's that most people get in "sales mode" and convince themselves that they are getting deals when they're only getting tooled.

Btw, mcflv, your avatar is criminally insane.

Re: Circuit City Liquidation Deals (post your finds here)

I picked up a couple Disturbed CD's that I've been meaning to get for a while. Got them for $7.99 each. Good deals. Not great deals, but good - and those CD's would likely be gone by the time the CD discount goes to 30%.

Re: Circuit City Liquidation Deals (post your finds here)

The thing with these sales is you go in to store and since you are "already there" might as well buy something-the urge not to walk away empty handed at a "sale" is tough for some people. That is why Furniture stores are always having "Liquidation-everything must go sales"
and in very small print at bottom it will say "will restock when sale is over". I will not walk into CC until atleast 40% off maybe even 50% unless I right in area to check out the stock-ofcourse if I needed a big item like tv or computer probally would be good to check.

All consoles were 10% off here today. They had PS3s, PSPs, 360s, and less than 5 DS.

Friend reported that the Lincoln Center (NYC) location is 20% off CDs & DVDs.

(This is their newest NYC location, less than a year old, and in the space that had previously been Tower Records. )

Re: Circuit City Liquidation Deals (post your finds here)

Just two weeks ago CC had a "30% off all CDs" offer in their weekly circular. I stopped by by my local store and spent 30-45 minutes going through the entire department looking for anything to fill in holes in my library. I managed to find four or five things and actually got some nice deals. So, 10% off during the amazing "going out of business" sale isn't much to get excited about.

Oh, yeah. When I did my shopping there two Sundays ago there was not another sole in the department the ENTIRE time I was there!
