The Firefly and Buffy sets are $19.99 in store right now. The last time I was there, the tags were marked 12/?? to 1/24.

I have no idea. Maybe the packeging is what made the movie so expensive. It's, nonetheless, a bad movie and I will never pay a movie that much.
