Huge hd dvd sale at frys..heroes and battlestar galactica $10 each
Plus many movies at $4.99 and up. Don't know how to put a link up. Maybe they will honor the prices they post. Shipping is expensive but still decent deals.
Happy shopping. |

Prices are still rather high for HD DVDs. Only a fraction are $4.99.
Come on retailers. Blow these fuckers out. I don't wanna see an HD DVD sale in 2012.

Thanks for the info. There are some good deals (of course, for the stuff I already got) but most of the titles are stuck at $12. Great price for the Heroes and Galatica box sets. I can't recommend Heroes enough. The picture is stunning and the first season was great.

If shipping wasn't nearly $7 I'd consider Heroes. Good deal though for those that live by Fry's and can do store pickup.

I'd have got Heroes but shipping kills it and time, gas and standing in Fry's lines makes pickup even less attractive...thanks for the post though

I ordered 6 or 7 titles recently and the shipping was still only ~$7. Funny that anyone could complain about having to pay a total of $17 to get Heroes Season One or BSG on HD DVD.

Picked up five titles at the Fremont CA store. Heroes was marked at something like $25. A few titles were a dollar or so less than the online prices. "The Thing," for instance, was $7.99 instead of the listed $9.99 price. Sure, I could have waited a few more weeks/months for the prices to possibly drop to $5.99 or lower, but these were the last 5 titles that I would ever considering owning from those that were released on the format and now I don't have to spend any more time hunting for HD-DVD deals.

I wouldn't count on them getting any lower... I had a conversation with an employee at the Fry's in Houston, TX a month or two ago about why the HD-DVDs weren't marked down more and he said that they move at the same rate at $10 as they do at $3.... extremely slow.
So why sell them for cheaper if they're going to just take up space all the same. I say them do the ol' Laserdisc / ET 2600 steamroller on them and be done with it, but that's just me ![]()

Price them at $5 each and throw in free shipping every so often and maybe they'll move. There's quite a few titles I still want if they're < $5.

Here's my story... I had ordered BSG and Heroes HD-DVDs from Borders, and those orders showed in process last I looked. After hearing of all the Borders cancellations, when I read that Fry's has them for $9.99, I did in-store pickup and got both of them there. I then emailed Borders to cancel my orders and received the email cancellations today. Who knows if they would've cancelled them regardless.
Then I opened up both sets and saw that disc 3 of BSG was covered with lots of fingerprints and concentric scratches... some of which were a bit deep. I cleaned off the fingerprints, but I'm worried the scratches may be bad enough to cause the disc to freeze sometime during playback. Unfortunately I don't have any PC HD-DVD drives, so I have no way of scanning it for errors like I can on a regular DVD. I also won't have time to watch enough episodes to get to disc 3 before Christmas (and I don't like watching series out of order). Should I drive 25 miles to Fry's to try to exchange this disc before Fry's is permanently out of BSG discs or just hope for the best when I play it? I guess I'm really asking... just how deep can the scratches be on a HD-DVD before they affect playback? |

You can also contact Universal for replacement. People have reported that they replaced theirs as its a common problem with the set.

Do you think Universal's remaining supply of Battlestar Galactica HD-DVDs for replacements will last another month or two until I watch through disc 3? I would be surprised if they have that many set aside, especially with lots of other people needing replacements. Hopefully Universal wouldn't require me to send in the whole set because I'd probably get a different bad disc... unless it's usually #3 that's bad.

I wouldn't worry about HD-DVD titles being impossible to find - not yet anyways. I've bought pretty much all the titles i'm looking for on HD-DVD, and i've yet to find a title that I already own being hard to find. BSG1 especially.

I was just at the store yesterday and nothing was 'on sale'- Heroes and BSG were marked $24.99. They've got a TON in stock though so these will probably have to drop to $10 eventually if they want to get rid of them all. Right now I've got them on order from Borders.com so I'll see if those actually come in.

Their website has BSG S1, Heroes S1, bundled with the XBox360 Add-On drive for $50. Without the drive, each set is $15 each.

I had 6 movies in my basket, including heroes but they will not ship these movies to non-US based locations.

Re: Huge hd dvd sale at frys..heroes and battlestar galactica $10 each
Sorry to bring this thread back but I didn't know where else to ask this question. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know so I can get more responses.
To those that have contacted Universal about the Battlestar Galactica HD DVD set, what have you been offered for a compensation? I was offered season 1 plus my choice of season 2.0 or 2.5 or 3. Just wondering if I'm getting the same thing as others.

Re: Huge hd dvd sale at frys..heroes and battlestar galactica $10 each
That is a better deal than I got. I got my choice of 3 HD DVDs (I took this offer, but the selection was weak I ended up with Van Helsing, Fast and the Furious and Time Cop) or Season 1 on DVD. I wasn't offered season 1 plus another season.

Re: Huge hd dvd sale at frys..heroes and battlestar galactica $10 each
They sent me a replacement set first try and it took months to even get it. When I did it was in worse shape than the set I set in and it was missing disc 5 completely. I contacted them again and they said they had no more sets to replace BG with due to all the replacements they had to send out and offered the other replacements instead.
