Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I found Before Sunrise at one of my local Big Lots, and I don't think that I've seen it mentioned here before.

Crap, I forgot that those old Kubrick discs came out in awful original versions and then remastered versions with almost the same covers. Looks like I'm a sucker. Oh well, it was only $3 down the drain.

If that movies comes out, I don't think it would last long on the shelves. I don't know anything about movies and even I would buy that one for sure.

I think the only other Kubrick films they've gotten are "Paths of Glory" (about a year ago) and "Barry Lyndon" (which I believe is still showing up at some stores.)

Note - Barry Lyndon is the non-remastered version.

Didn't "the Killing" show up at BigLots in the past? I know I picked it up cheap from somewhere but I may be confusing where that was.

Never saw the killing, but definitely picked up paths of glory from there.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

From the stores closest to me: 2 told me no new dvd's this week. The other appeared to have a Legend restock; I got there late & they were pretty picked out. There were a couple new Legend titles: 2 John Wayne's (Stagecoach Run & Guns Along The Trail), & Little Shop Of Horrors. The others appeared to be restocks.

Ditto Eyes Wide Shut. ...But for $3 I grabbed 'em both anyway.

Hate to tell You this, but Virgin Megastore had been selling these for $5 apiece (pre-liquidation). I grabbed the COMING OF AGE DRAMA TV STARTER SET (Dawson's Creek, Beautiful People, Party Of Five).

That's ok, they have a 30 day return policy.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

"WW II 60th Anniversary Collection (Das Boot/Anzio/Caine Mutiny/Dead Men's Secrets)"

Saw this in Tallahasse, Fl today and passed on it at $15 since my main interest was Das Boot, although The Caine Mutiny was definitely a good movie also. I also saw the Superbit Charlie's Angels double feature but passed since I already have the first title Superbit and thought $8 was a little steep just to get the second one. Maybe it's a good thing that I didn't spend any money since I have spent way too much on DVDs lately. Not much in my nearest store here in Thomasville, GA lately. Last week there was a small display of mostly kids titles but we seem to not be getting any of the displays found elsewhere.

I also saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Collector's Edition for $8.00. It included the two disc movie, screenplay and a film cell. I'm not a fan so I passed on it.

No problem for me, I didn't buy them. $15 is way too expensive. Plus, a starter set is like having a "best of" collection, yuk!

Lucky dog. That sounds like the shipment most of us haven't been able to find.

I've seen Maltese Falcon, but not the others. I want to get City of Lost Children, Wise Guys and Capricorn One.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Minor restock here of mostly the Legend titles. I notice these only because they had jumped from 1 copy each to 3-4 each:

Killer Shrews/Giant Gila Monster
Little Shop of Horrors
The Legend John Wayne In Color remastered titles (Guns Along the Trail, Stolen Goods, Cold Vengeance, and Stage coach Run) from a while back.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (SE single disk)
Serving Raoul

And new titles others have mentioned:
The Maltese Falcon
Casablanca
(both original snappers, slashed but now with a blank sticker over the slash/upc)

Still no:
The Curse Of Frankenstein
Plan 9 from Outer Space
Eyes Wide Shut (yeah, I'm aware it's the original pressing, but for $3...)
Capricorn One
City of Lost Children
Wise Guys
