Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Getting off topic but... Half Price Books in Austin, TX has BCI's the Paul Naschy Collection new in box for $10 (I got it for $10 - 40% off coupon = $6). Not sure if that's a sign Half Price Books might end up with more BCI material or just a fluke.

I agree with you. I've been to at least 8 BL and found none

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Went to 7 Big Lots and only one store had To Sir, With Love which of course I scooped up! The same store had Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, it seems that the two titles travel together or something. Interesting to note that every store seemingly had a couple of different titles that other ones didn't. Here's what I picked up overall:

Curse of Frankenstein
Revenge of Frankenstein
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed
My Favorite Wife (Cary Grant and Irene Dunne)
Demon Seed
Private Parts
Viva Knievel
Eyes of a Stranger
Return of the Vampire (Bela Lugosi)
Shackles (D.L. Hughley, fairly decent prison drama)
Barry Lyndon
There Was a Crooked Man
Police Academy 20th S.E.
Eating Raoul
Prince of the City 2 Disc
Ryan's Daughter 2 Disc
St. Ives (Charles Bronson)

plus some musical titles and classics for my mom that I don't recall

After having no new shipments for a few weeks finally saw the new display in a few of the stores. Picked up Ryan's Daughter and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and oh yeah, 3 copies of To Sir With Love (only arrived in one of the stores.)

Finally found the new titles. Bought a baker's dozen including To Sir with Love, Barry Lyndon and the one I wanted the most: Ten Little Indians, which I'm going to watch right now. I also picked up a vampire flick called "Rise" that I didn't seen mentioned.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Hey All, Went to BL in Torrington, CT the other day and they seemed to have at least 5 copies of most of the movies from the most recent batch. I picked up 3 copies of To Sir With Love if anyone is interested in them. I left at least 3 other copies there. Shoot me an e-mail at swapshack@hotmail.com if interested in a trade.

Thanks,

John

I live in New Jersey, and I got "Barry Lyndon".

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Wanted to thank everyone who had responded a few posts back
about my question regarding Anchor Bay and BCI. Much appreciated.

To turn my frown upside down a trip to four BL's did the trick:

Barry Lyndon
Eyes Of A Stranger
Frisco Kid
It's Alive
Prince Of The City**
Viva Knievel
Police Academy (20th yr SE)
Walk Hard
Mutiny On The Bounty
World According to Garp
East Of Eden**
April Fools Day (remake)
Texas Chainsaw (remake)
Beyond The Posideon Adventure
Hardcore
Ryan's Daughter**
There Was a Crooked Man
Private Parts
Teenage Caveman
Eating Rauol

Aston, PA. It was the only copy i could find but there's a chance there could be another hidden somewhere. The copy i found was on the rack and not inside the big box of new titles.

Mind had two more To Sir With Love(s) but they were floaters....
So they were useless, I wouldn't want to trade or sell something like that....

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

There are 3 stores in the city I live in. #1 got about 1/3 of the titles mentioned. #2 got all but 1 or 2 titles & much larger quantities of the titles that #1 got. As of a few days ago, #3 hadn't received any at all. having seen this pattern for quite awhile, & also seen similar with other BL's in close by cities, I assume that they send more dvd's to stores that they think will have faster sales.

Store #3 seems to be specifically targeted towards Spanish speaking people, that may have an impact on which dvd's they're sent.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I was out of town late last week and found a pretty good assortment of the recent batches at the Milton, FL store as well as the store on Navy Blvd. in Pensacola, FL. The Brent Lane store in Pensacola had only a small portion of the new titles as did the store in Marianna, Fl. I never made it to the 9 Mile Rd. store in Pensacola. Both the Milton and Navy Blvd, stores had 3 or 4 copies each of To Sir With Love even after I had left. I only bought one copy since I had already bought so many. I think I ended up with about 57 titles purchased last week thanks to this thread and the excellent selection at a couple of stores, mainly the store in Milton, FL., which BTW was the nicest Big Lots store I've ever been inside. A huge, fairly new store with everything spread out.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I stopped by the BL on the south side of Huntsville this weekend, and picked up

There Was A Crooked Man...
St. Ives
To Sir, With Love
(seems to be Canadian DVDs we're seeing of this OOP title)

and

Sweet and Lowdown (WS/FS flipper) finally! The only copy they had out of a new stack of this title.

Now I just hope that some of the other titles people are talking about, like Ryan's Daughter and Barry Lyndon, show up here.

You're not alone. This thread is starting to bring back painful memories from last summer when I had to wait almost 2 months for them to get any of the MGM stock in.
