Has anyone found the Rebel Without a Cause 2 disc version? I've gotten everything I wanted from the new Warner batch but I've been to 4 stores and haven't seen that one yet.

It sucks that they damaged the UPCs on these especially the ones that are in the snapper cases because on some of them they put a line all the way up the back of the case. But its not that big of a deal to me and won't stop me from buying them.

Jim, i got the Felix Saves Christmas as well and it is a GoodTimes video.

As for others I picked up they included:

Little Children
Belivevers Unrated
The Jacket
The Exorcist 25th Anniversary Edition
The Amazing Story of Superman (the one I went for after reading this thread)
East of Eden 2 Disc
The Philadelphia Story 2 Disc
Rebel Without a Cause
The Good German

And I'll just jump on the bandwagon with everyone else in saying that them putting these cuts through the UPC really pisses me off. My BL had pretty much what everyone listed though this is probably the first time nothing really stood out to me as something I had to get. Most of the big name movies I already had.

Well, I've seen a few never-previously-slashed titles I purchased a year and a half ago (for $2) reappear, so who knows.

Then again, I don't have the willpower to wait and see ...here's what I picked up:

-THX 1138 (DC)
-East of Eden (2-disc SE)
-The Squid and the Whale
-Strange Brew
-The Philadelphia Story (2-disc SE)
-Scoop
-The Majestic
-Little Children
-A Very Long Engagement
-Cobra

Really wanted that Network 2-discer, but could only find the snapper.

Apparently $3 is worth the slashed UPCs and missing slipcovers ...at least for me. Of course I'm not happy about it. And I'm actually surprised the WB lot was already out because I usually have to wait at least a couple of months after someone posts their findings in here.

I haven't seen any of the slashed UPC cases just yet but plan to go to Big Lots on Black Friday early morning. This may seem silly but could someone post a photo of one of the slashed UPC cases? I'm curious.

Saw the slashed cases today at Big Lots. They are so ugly.

Saw the Warner $3.00 "Cut/Slash/Mutilate" display at the Big Lots on Salem Ave in Dayton, OH. I was able to resist "Big Lots fever" because of the UPC cuts. Did see 4 or 5 Warner Musicals that I would have made blind buys on if no UPC damage such as-

Dames (1934) http://www.amazon.com/Dames-Joan-Blondell/dp/B000E0OE1W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227474496&sr=1-1
On the Town (1949, Frank Sinatra/Gene Kelly) http://www.amazon.com/Town-Frank-Sinatra/dp/B00004RF9J/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227471956&sr=1-2

What I did buy was-
Creepshow
Nightmare on Elm Street
The American President (used to have this one but hated the bad film transfer...but crazy me decided to buy it back again!)
The Exorcist 25th Anniversary with the BBC "Fear of God Doc". Bought all three copies I saw since the UPC was hardly damaged at all...more of just a "Cellophane cut". One copy goes to my Mom. The other two will be saved for possible future trade when other new UPC slashed stuff turns up at Big Lots someday that I can't find and want.

At the Big Lots in Huber Heights, Ohio saw a couple titles that were new to me-
Whoopi - Back to Broadway (The 20th Anniversary Show) 2 disk http://www.amazon.com/Whoopi-Back-Br...7472497&sr=1-1
Def Comedy Jam: All 11 Episodes 2 disk http://www.amazon.com/Def-Comedy-Jam-All-Episodes/dp/B000O3C538/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227473063&sr=1-1
The Changeling (George C. Scott) http://www.amazon.com/Changeling-George-C-Scott/dp/0783116926/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227472617&sr=1-1
All the King's Men (1949, Best Picture Oscar winner)
http://www.amazon.com/All-Kings-Men-Broderick-Crawford/dp/B000BITV92/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227472859&sr=1-2

Say, why is the list on the first page split up by company? I never look at the list anymore because of that sorting. Is it just me or would others vote for it just to be Alpha order by DVD title only?

They did NOT have the '67 Casino Royale, or Never Say Never Again...

They're all shrink-wrapped, the UPC codes are NOT sabotaged, but not a single one of them has the normal peel-off white factory seal at the top "spine". I'm wondering if these were in box sets originally...they do all have the booklets...Die Another Day is a double-disc, but NOT in a slipcase.

I'm elated to have these, and really glad I've held off on buying any of them up until tonight (save for Goldfinger) as I have no plans to upgrade beyond standard DVD anytime soon.

They had probably about 4-5 copies of each title scattered throughout their rather endless DVD display, which was organized chaos in its purest form. I pretty much spent an hour digging through the various unstable levels of cardboard to find these.

Also picked up...

A MINUTE TO PRAY, A SECOND TO DIE
RED DAWN (original release, not spec. ed)

and the only thing I couldn't find that I would have gotten was...

THE DARK HALF

saw plenty of copies of...

WHO'S THE BOSS 1st Season
Guys and Dolls (2 disc spec. ed)
Bubba Ho-Tep (with slipcase)

and a lot of other things I've seen previously at BL...
Thoes JB DVDs are the old single discers right?

Thanks basaro. I searched Deep Discount and IMDB and came up empty.

And thank you pd071 for the info about those xmas titles. I started a Good Times Video section for those.

And Keith123, I have no idea why the list is broken down that way. That's the way it was when I transferred it.

I saw the SE of Gattaca yesterday at a Big Lots, which surprised me because it was released this year. Maybe a few of these got into circulation instead of the Superbit by mistake?

It was tough on which one to get, but because of DVDTalk said the special features weren't that good on the SE, I bought the Superbit for better picture quality. It's just like the bonus 6th disc in the Pink Panther set.

There's a newer release with better transfer AND finally anamorphic. I picked it up for $6.50 at Target last week.

Sorry; I'd reduce the size of this if I knew how to do such a thing.

Much of what has been previously posted was still at the Big Lots in Nashua, NH, but I had a pretty hard time looking through them. Many titles had been placed upside down, or stacked on the top of the cardboard display. Also, the store was pretty busy, so it was difficult to really roll up the sleeves and take a better look. The only thing I was really interested in was the Network SE, but I only found the single disc snapper.

Also, I saw many of the slashed UPCs, and I must say that (to me) they weren't in bad shape. Certainly wouldn't deter me from purchasing, especially at $3.

No problem. Thanks for the pic! Doesn't look too bad to be honest but it's still a stupid thing to do but i guess if they are doing this to not have people try to sell them off to make a profit then i can see why. Is the plastic packaging slashed as well or just the case underneath? Sorry for all these questions about a stupid UPC slash just curiousity.

^The pic posted is one of the better looking ones. I saw some with the gouge extending a full 1/2" below the UPC and additional scratches the full length of the case. While this didn't stop me from making a few purchases I was still annoyed. It's like the "cutout" LPs and CDs I've purchased over the years. The low price allowed me to make the exception since the actual media is not affected and I have no intention to resell or gift them.

If you mean the shrink wrap and/or artwork cover/overlay by "plastic packaging" then, yes. This is done by running the DVD through a machine with a hot blade. It's a partial melt and cut job that goes through the shrink wrap, clear cover, paper artwork, and a bit into the black portion of the case.

Yea I was thinking it was ran thru a machine....although the Believers I picked up was not slashes but had a single marker thru the UPC.

I visited two big lots and only one of them got the new shipment with the slashed UPC's. Some UPC's were worse than others. For $3 I dont mind, as I pick them up to add to my pile of unwatched movies not to return or sell. Besides big lots is just selling them like the studio sent'em, w/ slashed UPC's, and I will gladly take'm at that price. The BL closest to me always seems to run a week behind in getting the newest shipment. Still looking for the Bond movies and THX Here is what I picked up in the last two weeks

Hellboy DC 3D
Panic Room 3D
MIB DTS CS
Bugsy EC
Close encounters of The Third Kind DTS CE
Missing, The SE
Adaptation -Superbit
Devils Backbone, The
Monster SE
Runaway Train

--Today
Eyes wide Shut
Nightmare om Elm Street
Network 2D
Creepshow
Dog Day Afternoon
Superman, Look up in the sky
Dirty Dozen,The
Believers Unrated W/Slipcover
Mighty Joe young
Exorcist, The 25th Ann. W/The Fear Of God Documentary

Really!?! When did this come out? Last I heard, the last re-release had packaging that claimed to be anamorphic but really wasn't.

I only picked this up at Big Lots because I had given up hope of ever seeing an anamorphic release for American President.

DAMNIT! you're right! I hadn't watched it yet, and after reading your reply, I ran and opened it up and popped it in, and sure enough, you're right! It's the same POS repackaged, with a lie on the packaging - it' not anamorphic.

Now I get to try to return it at Target, where they surely won't even knw what that means and will try to deny me my refund.

I wish I had heard about the packaging being wrong BEFORE i bought this re-release!

And some are actually in better condition than that. A few I picked up looked like someone lightly scratched them with their fingernail. But, they were all snappers and everyone loathes snappers, so there was absolutely no point in sharing this info ...because they're snappers.

I'm sorry, cinemaphile. I was praying you had found a newer 16x9 release. Sorry to burst your bubble. Good luck at Target. They should take it back as it's clearly not what's labeled.

There's potentially this resource to check out in the future, I'll add this to the list as soon as I get a confirmation on the UPC...
