No display here... yet...

Went in and checked the display ad to see where the new $2 ones would be. It indicated "action alley" so I looked and found nothing. Asking a couple of people got pretty much the same answer as the rest of you have gotten... if they're not where the ad indicates then they either did not get any, sold them all (unlikely), or they are in the displays with the $3 ones (not... I checked there before asking). Guess I'll check the next few days just in case. At least the store's close to my house.

Yes, I found Joan of Arc. It stars LeeLee Sobieski. It is 16x9. (At the top of the back cover it says "16x9 Full screen version" and down at the bottom it says "Enhanced for 16:9 widescreen television). I just opened the dvd and popped it into my notebook p/c and it is 16:9.

I have been to 4 Biglots and here is what I saw regarding the LionsGate/Artisan $2 dvds.

Two stores put them out early and threw them in the $3 dvd four sided freestanding bin.

One store put them on the 4 sided gold colored wire rack with the VHS and software titles.

One store had two small-ish freestanding card displays with the LionsGate/Artisan $2 dvds. They had the "As advertised $2 DVDs" paper sign taped to the side of the display.

In all cases the LionsGate/Artisan dvds are pre-marked $2 with the white BigLot's price sticker.

Went to the Beckley Big Lots today and didn't see any special display.
I browsed thru the 2 dvd stands and didnt see anything but the old MGM and HBO shipments and the remnants of the of scratched upc batch all mixed together.
So they either went fast or havent been put out. It was way tooo busy to ask and get a response like previous posters.

Went to a local store today, one which usually has a very lackluster dvd selection, but in addition to their normal display (which was mainly cds and pc games today) they had a rather larger display with easily 200 dvds laying spine up. Some of the $2 discs were there including Swimming With Sharks.

I ended up leaving with:
Leon The Professional (uncut intl edition)
Beetlejuice (old flipper)
Pan's Labyrinth (2 disc)

for $3 each

I hit the Big Lots in Monrovia, CA. They had a few Lionsgate titles mingled in with the older stuff.

I picked up:

Cake
The Big Empty
Made
The Dead Zone (TV Pilot)
Legionnaire/Replicant
The Cooler
Vernon, Florida
War Stories (HBO)

Did not see Swimming with Sharks. Gonna hit another Big Lots after work tomorrow.

Got

El Cantante- JLO and hubby Marc Anthony in a well received bio pic

Born on the Fourth of July- I like Tom Cruise again. This is his greatest performance, IMO.

Shanghai Surprise- I don't know why I got it. Perhaps for the camp factor.

The Exorcist- I want see the version I have never seen.

The Sting- Never seen it before. Late great Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

The Hurricane- Perhaps Denzel's greatest performance.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Heard it was good.

Prime. Meryl Streep. I always get anything she is in.

I looked for Moonlighting and couldn't find it. I will try again. I can't stand Cybill Shepherd personally but it was a well written show with snappy dialogue.

I was out there Saturday. The display was out then and it had about 200-300 DVDs (I spent $80+). The boxes were on top of the cardboard display they have. I might check the Oak Hill store this weekend.

There was no boxes on top of the Cardboard display yesterday,so they either went fast or what was left got mixed all together with the rest. Maybe this weekend they may put out another batch

Went to 3 different Big Lots in the Dayton, OH area and didn't see Moonlighting season 3. The Amazon Marketplace sellers don't seem to be finding many copies either as the new price from them is still holding steady at a bit over $7.00 since last weekend.

I did pick up at $2.00 each-

Ultimate Fighting Championship Classics, Vol. 6http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Fighting-Championship-Classics-Vol/dp/B000FUF6UY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1229634791&sr=8-1

Hit a couple NJ locations today. Skipped Final Destination 3 because it had a scratch across the barcode. A few I haven't seen mentioned:

Van Helsing: The London Assignment (animated movie $3)
White Palace (WS $3)
Children on their Birthdays (FS $2)

Plus, one store that always seems to put their stock out early had a new anime lot in. All $3. There were a bunch of DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh that I didn't pay any attention to, plus:

Guardian Angel: Burst Angel v6
Suzuka v3
Glass Fleet v2
Beck v4
Samurai 7, v7
Fullmetal Alchemist v10
Solty Rei v5

Some restocks, too. New copies of Negima 201, and maybe Basilisk v2 and Galaxy Railways v1 (the last two might have been leftovers).

Edit: There was also a new version of Conquerer of Shamballa (Fullmetal Alchemist), with a hologram cover (it's different cover than the one I picked up there a few months ago).

Thanks, Tap, that reminds me to mention- the Big Lots at 359 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Dayton also had a BIG selection of $3.00 anime titles today on the wire racks. The titles are all a fog to me now, but if I collected anime I would have been in hog heaven.

I have a ton of unsealed Big Lots DVDs that I've bought since they started offering so many great titles. The other day while looking over OOP stuff, seeing if I had any or not that I might not know about, I noticed that Mr. Sardonicus was going for $30+. I stuck my still sealed copy on Amazon and sold it in just an hour or two for almost $35.

Thanks Big Lots.

I'll have to check my local store for some of this new stuff. They should have a new batch of titles by now. They haven't had much new around here for the past two or three weeks.

This is a potential good accompaniment to the Unscripted HBO series if anyone picked it up last month or so also at BL. Unscripted stars Bryan Greenberg and there are scenes in it where he is going through the process of getting involved with Prime. Haven't seen Prime yet, but I'll pick it up if I see it, should be interesting to "connect the dots".

It's been a while, back when just about all they had were the great foreign movies and stuff like that. I sure wish they had more foreign and obscure titles instead of all the mainstream stuff they have these days.

Maybe a year ago? Maybe even more?
