Couple more $2 titles I don't think have been mentioned.

Odd Girl Out (Lionsgate).. link
Permanent Midnight (Artisan).. link. This has been released twice, once by Artisan and then again recently by Lionsgate but the only difference is a different cover/slipcover.

When I went to Biglots on Saturday and Sunday, they had the $2 Artisan(A)/Lionsgate(L) DVDs.

Here is what I bought:

(A) 29 Palms (WS) (starring Chris O'Donnell, Rachael Leigh Cook)
(L) Moonlighting Season 3 (starring Bruce Willis, Cybill Shepherd)
(L) Shanghai Surprise (WS with slipcover) (starring Sean Penn, Madonna)
(L) Shattered Glass (WS) (starring Hayden Christensen, Peter Sarsgaard, Steve Zahn)

I bought Moonlighting as a blind buy. I saw Bruce Willis on the cover and thought why not, for only $2. When I got home I realized that the show seems to be a comedy and I was beginning to have buyers remorse. It seems to be a popular TV show, so I guess I will try it out and watch it.

Over the weekend, I also went to 2 other Biglots and did not see Moonlighting. Moonlighting doesn't seem to be in abundance like the "Who's the Boss?" TV dvd set a while back. That one was at every Biglot's I visited in quantity.

The Biglots that I visited had 3 copies of Moonlighting, I bought one. By now I am sure the remaining 2 are long gone from Saturday/Sunday.

I hit the Clifton NJ Big Lots today hoping to score that Moonlighting S3 set. Needless to say, they didn't have it, but they did have an otherwise pretty good stock of Lions Gate's for $2 (sitting on the pedestal/table displaying their Christmas trees!). The only two I grabbed were:

Shanghai Surprise (SE in slipcase)
In Enemy Hands (Scott Caan /William H. Macy)

Open Water
Baby Movie
Shootout
Shanghai Suprise
Babar
4 more that I can't make out the title to. When the newspaper comes tomorrow, I'll post those titles if someone else hasn't yet.

All of these titles where available at 2 of my local stores on Sunday.

Good to know! I went to my closest Big Lots on Sunday and was angered when there were no lions gate DVDs. I asked them and they had no idea about the $2 DVDs and they tried telling me that there could be some mixed in with the $3 DVDs and there were but they were not lions gate. I'll call them Wednesday and hopefully they'll have them in.

Yeah the moonlighting set was $2... incredible deal... I thought the comedy three pack that I mentioned above was a pretty good deal too... along with the double features as well

I checked my Big Lot and was able to find for $2 each

Dogville (with Nicole Kidman)
Redneck Comedy Roundup
Snow queen ( i got it as a blind buy)
A good woman (also a blind buy)

I also saw a copy of The Dead Zone tv show, but it looked like only one episode from the series so I passed on it.

Those $2 dvds that were mixed in with the $3 dvds are probably leftover Black Friday $2 dvds from Sony/Columbia/Tri-Star Pictures.

One of the Biglots that I visited still had quite a few of the $2 Black Friday dvds and they were thrown together with the $3 dvds. I saw Art School Confidential, The Vertical Limit, Shredder, De-Lovely, etc for $2 each.

Should I be looking for a regular size case or larger specialty packaging when searching for Moonlighting?

Today I saw:

Searching for Debra Winger (Rosanna Arquette documentary)

& a Robert Mitchum western - probably "Nevada" but not certain

Just picked up
The Hard Word ($2) (Good Guy Pearce movie with good extras like a commentary and more.)
The Reagans ($2) (Brolin-Judy Davis miniseries)
American Psycho 2 ($2) (Stupid movie but Mila Kunis is hot in it. Plus she does a commentary.)
Hitchhiker Volumes 2 AND 3 ($3 each)
Plus saw they had a Van Damme 2-pack of The Legionnaire and Replicant for $2.

Here is a pic:

It is a silver colored cardboard cover with clear plastic trays that hold the dvds (kinda like the old X-Files sets that had cardboard that unfolded with clear plastic trays that held each dvd) On this set, it looks like the plastic trays are just stacked on top of each other. I have not opened this yet as I am thinking of giving this as a present. (Ignore the rainbow effect, it was from the flash.)

I won't believe you until I see a picture of it floating in a toilet.

I checked 2 stores today. One didn't have any $2 titles. The other had a display that had obviously been picked through. With the post above indicating some stores might be putting out some on Wednesdays, I might check the first one again in the morning.

I picked up 3 copies of Swimming with Sharks today, and Shattered Glass. But couldn't find Moonlighting. Trying the other local store in the morning to see if they put them out (tried tonight - they said not til morning). Otherwise, I'll trade a Sharks if anyone can find me a copy of Moonlighting!

It's always amusing when we know more about a stores product and promotions than they do:

This morning I swung by the other Big Lots (since last night they said they wouldn't put them out until Wed morning), and they were nowhere in sight. I grabbed an ad flyer featuring the new titles (Swimming/Sharks, etc), and showed it to an employee and asked where the new $2 assortment was. She pointed me to a bin up front. "No, those are the old assortment, and they're $3," I say.
"They might just be mixed in," she says. (No, they weren't)
So I wander the store and ask someone up front. "Maybe they just haven't been put out yet?" I suggest.
"No, I think that's them"
"But those are $3. The ones in the ad are $2"
"Oh, well, if you see any you want, I'll just override it to $2. Must have just been a misprint."

ugh.... needless to say, by the time I make it back to the store again, they will have put them out and all the ones I would want will be gone. Oh well...

So if anybody can pick up an extra Moonlighting, I'd gladly pay you back + shipping, or can trade a Swimming with Sharks SE. PM me! (lewisb73?)

^ Had a similar experience this morning. Two stores clearly had $2 displays. The third store I checked had nothing. Upon asking the cashier, she pointed me towards the $3 ones and indicated that's where the $2 ones would be if there was any left.

Cinemaphile, I had the exact same experience this past Sunday morning because i went there expecting to see the $2 display because it was in their ad and i questioned it and got the same run around as you did. I even called them the day before and asked if it will be a new display and she asked the manager and she came back and said "Yes" so i assumed. It angered me because the closest Big Lots is 25 mins away. I called them again this morning and they still do not have a new display yet. I may call Lions Gate.. just kidding.

My Big Lots had a few $2 titles today, but they didn't have a separate display fo them, they were just thrown in with all the other DVDs in their regular 4 sided metal display.

Bought these:

29 Palms
A Good Woman
Apocalypse Watch, The
Cake
Chasing Christmas
Cutting Class
Dead Zone (TV pilot movie)
Detective
Dogville
Hail Caesar
High Noon (remake with Tom Skerrit)
Kickboxer 3/4
Lantana
Man About Town
Mr. St. Nick
Paranoid
Project Viper
Risk
Solar Attack
Swimming With Sharks
Three Wise Guys
Twister (Harry Dean Stanton)
WiseGirls

As usual I didn't know much about these titles while browsing in the store. Lately I'll just buy them, and after reading some reviews return the ones that don't get such good reviews on Amazon or IMDB. Project Viper got some really bad reviews, but I may keep it just to get a few laughs at how bad it really is. Man About Town with Ben Affleck and High Noon with Tom Skerrit didn't get very good reviews either, but for $2 what the heck. I was actually surprised that quite a few on the list got pretty decent reviews. A Good Woman was the only title I had already watched once. The Big Lots semi was pulling in as I was leaving so I was wondering if they might actually get a $2 display delivered that they'll set up today. Please post if your store has an actual $2 display.
