So I called, AGAIN, and they said that they'd be glad to ship it, for a THIRD TIME... I told them not to bother, and I went straight to Best Buy and bought the exact order for only 2 more dollars than I was going to be getting it from DD. Let me tell you, it was worth the 2 extra bucks to buy something, and actually have it in my hands rather than dealing with this crap from DD. I am NEVER going to shop through Deep Discount again. |

I've been shopping with Deep Discount since they started and I had a problem maybe twice out of the hundreds of orders I've made. Somehow the shipment was lost and they reshipped it immediately. It's been my experience that some orders come quickly and some slowly, but lately they've been pretty quick.
In DD's defense let me say this: sometimes it's the USPS that's screwing up your order. Example: I ordered something through Amazon which I was able to track. The package went from San Jose, CA down to Cerritos, CA and the next stop was supposed to be my house in Los Angeles. Instead, the package was put back on the cargo plane and shipped to Newark, NJ. From there it went to Kentucky and then back to CA. It was past it's expected arrival date, but I understood what had happened. Somebody had screwed up and it wasn't the merchant. (Plus, sometimes mail theft takes place by mail employees and by people stealing things from people's mailboxes. Just some other things that may have happened to your order.) |

I ordered The Batman - the complete animated series, during the sale and it is now listing as "Sorry, this item is no longer available". Does that mean I'm not going to fill that portion of my order? I hope not as that means I going have to chase then for some refunding of postage.

Me too. I made separate orders for Third Man, Bottle Rocket and Chunking Express BD, and then received immediately cancellation notices for all 3 of them. Today, I received 3 emails stating that they shipped and charged me. Great way to do business DD!

I ordered all the new Criterion Blu-rays w/T-shirts during the 25% off sale. None were cancelled. I haven't received a shipping notice
...yet. If I do, I'll believe there is a Santa Claus and his name is Deep Discount! |

I've learned that whenever I buy anything from Deep Discount, its for the unbeatable price, and don't expect it any time soon. Most everything I ever order in a sale is backordered, and takes a good while to come back into stock. Many of my old orders are still open because there is one item waiting to ship (Batman TAS and Chunking Express BD) etc.
Trying to cancel stuff with them is like pulling teeth though. I had to submit my FOURTH request to cancel items from an order today. Even if the website says backordered, the item can be in stock and ready to ship. This however locks down your order, and supposedly they cant cancel other items in your order if any one of them comes into stock. Have to wait til that ships, then try again. If it wasn't for great prices on their box-set sales, i'm sure i'd buy a lot less from them.

Just got my shipping notice for Bottle Rocket and Chunking Express! Really bizarre, as I also got the cancellation. Happy Christmas to me!

I just received a shipping notice for my cancelled Third Man and Bottle Rocket Criterion's, too. As long as I'm getting them for the sale price, I'm not going to complain about it, but I agree, it is an odd way to do business...
Now, I wish that I ordered Man Who Fell To Earth, too. ![]() |

Ordered Batman TAS set from Amazon this morning and it shipped this afternoon. If Amazon has them, why doesn't DD? I'm canceling my DD order, the extra $15 or so I paid is worth it to end this BS waiting game.

I would say that DD does get almost everything back in stock if you are patient, but there are exceptions.
Back in the June DD sale, I ordered "The Abbott and Costello Show" Season Two, hoping to get it for my friend's birthday in September. I waited and waited, and a few months later, they sent me an email saying that the set was discontinued. Amazon still carried it, so I picked it up there. It cost a few bucks more, but at least it arrived pretty fast. Best, Trev |

Just received an email from deep discount saying that "due to overwhelming demand," the Chungking BD I ordered during the last sale is temporarily out of stock.

Yup, got the the same e-mail(s) saying that the Criterion's with free T-shirts:
"Bottle Rocket" "Man Who Fell To Earth" "Third Man" "Chungking Express" are all out of stock. Way to go fellow DVD Talkers! You ruined my Christmas by overordering these titles. ![]() (I really can't complain since I ordered them during the 25% off sale and somehow they remained in my order history. The good news is that they weren't canceled and will still ship to me within 21 days.) (Should I expect a similiar e-mail when "The Last Emperor" streets?) Me too for Chungking and Bottle Rocket - mine were never canceled, but they've always held an "open" status on my account.
----------- Thank you for your recent order. Due to an overwhelming demand for the item(s)listed, we are temporarily out of stock. If you ordered with a credit card, you will not be charged until the item ships. We expect to receive this merchandise and ship your order within twenty-one days. |

Well, I had to send back Peter Benchley's "The Beast" a second time. I've gotten 3 copies of that movie (2 from DD, 1 from Amazon) shipped to me and all 3 times had loose discs. 2 of the 3 had BOTH discs floating. I got one from Amazon before with 1 loose disc. I give up. I love that movie, but something about the case must be horribly wrong. Didn't seem that different from any other though.
