Redbox, free rentals on Monday nights, codes inside

Can't believe there isn't a thread on this updated twice weekly, but did a search and came up empty.

Redbox has a text list where they send free codes on Mondays and (temporarily) Wednesdays. Good for a free night, $1. Tonights code is DB96TH and ends at midnight. Codes are not unique and can be forwarded to anyone.

One account per credit card, card needed in case you keep it longer than 2100 the next day.

How do you join their text list?

I think it came in an email after my first rental. But you can probably sign up on their webpage as well.

Mediocre selection. Maybe 100 titles total at each location, almost all stuff released within the last several months. Lots of low budget crap like Grizzly Park. But free is free, and you can usually find all the big name new releases (sold out sometimes of course).

I've been renting 4 a week for free for the last month.

Almost forgot, you can check out the selection at each kiosk and reserve it online.

I had no idea that you could look up each location's selection. I'll be checking this out! Between Redbox and Netflix, I can't imagine ever setting foot in a video story anytime soon!

There is one exception if I'm not mistaken. You can only reserve a title online by using a credit card (and paying a $1), you're unable to enter a free code online. Going online can still be helpful since as you mentioned you can see the selection available at a particular kiosk.

Good idea for a thread, Trevor. I didn't sign up for the free codes since I don't have texting included in my cell phone deal. However, I have a family member I've called on many a Monday/Wednesday for that day's code.

There are sites inside the internet that will show you redbox codes.

You can also go to www.redboxcodes.com and click on 'Redbox Codes' at the top and get all the current codes. There are some one-time use codes as well that can be used anytime. I thought they listed the current Monday code, but it looks like there's a bunch of Monday codes. I'm not sure how they list them since I rarely get out to rent movie. I just keep that URL handy just in case.

I think I'll still try to remember to bump this thread every Monday and Wednesday. Even though those sites are better sources for more codes, I think many of us tend to be DVDtalk-centric, and would rather have everything we need right here.

I've used the other promo codes before, but find that 2 or 4 (I have two credit cards/accounts) movies per week are more than enough out of their mainstream selection.

I think the Wednesday codes are for August only. I could be mistaken though.

Nope, you are correct, but maybe they'll extend it.

^ Or may offer it again in the near future. I think they did Wednesdays in addition to Mondays a few months ago.

I've never rented from these folks. I went to a kiosk and couldn't tell if these versions were fool-screen or widescreen.

Any comments?

They always seem to have the widescreen version when applicable whenever I rent from there.

Yes and no. If you use a different credit card (needed when you rent a movie in case Redbox needs to charge you for not returning it), you can use the code multiple times.

Here is a list of "unverified" codes: DVDONME EGIZER5 THX0708 DVD4ME FUJI26, as well as REDBOX (first time credit cards only), WALMART (walmart locations only), and BREAKROOM which is verified and working.

^ DVDONME is a code I've received in recent e-mails to pass along to new customers. So I'm sure that one is a valid one for a credit card you haven't used before or if you haven't checked Redbox out.
