I've never used redbox before, and i just made an account. I just got a few questions:

1) Is there a catch? Like secret charges to your credit card?
2) How do these codes work? If you have to reserve online and it charges you a dollar online, then you type the code at the redbox, does it return your money to the card?

I am confused! Someone please help!

^I've never done this before either, but think I'll do it today. From looking at their site, it looks like you are charged when you reserve online, and codes can't be used when reserving.

In their FAQ it says this, so maybe you can't use the code when you reserve online? So it would be a moot point when doing in-person renting at a box, because there would be no prior charge on your card.

Because Online rentals are a premium service allowing redbox customers to secure their DVDs before picking them up, redbox is only accepting promotion codes for in-person redbox rentals at any redbox location.

1) No catch. You just have to swipe your card when you use the code so that if you return it after 9 p.m. the next day, it charges you $1.

2) You can only use them at the RedBox itself. You can't reserve a title and then use the free code when you go to pick it up. I would check the inventory online of the box that you're going to before you leave to see what they have left.

Thanks, did this for the first time today and picked up Traitor (won't buy it cause of the f'd up AR), and Indy 4.
I had signed up online and got a free code, I don't imagine it can be used more than once, but you're welcome to try it. BREAKROOM

Now to clean the discs first...
