What's going on with these two titles?
Gurren Lagann, Vol.1 (2-Disc) (SE w/CD) (S) Subtitles only (?)....So this is what happens when ADV film loses their hands on titles. It seemed to be one of the absolute highest anticipated releases I've read, and heard. So will there only be a Japanese audio track? I surely hope not. (I hope it comes with a "Paprika" effect--well before release date, Paprika was slated to only have a Japanese audio track. I was ecstatic to find an English audio track available on the Region 1 release.) If Gurren Lagann is only subtitled, here's another anime series I can cross off my "to-buy-list" just like "Victorian Emma" Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Vol.7 + Artbox (Hyb) I thought Tsubasa was released in its entirety already with an artbox (volume 1). Why two artboxes for a completed series? Is there any resemblance to the My Hime situation? (Note: My Hime has two official artboxes available because apparently fans didn't like the first one.) well that is just to give time for bandai to redub and let Gurren Laggan air on Sci-fi, a dubbed DVD will be released at the end of this year/begining next year. This is also part of their more choices "campaign". Tsubasa has two seasons of 26 so this is starting the second season just like Get Backers original release.

The dubbed version of GL is schedule to be released early next year (late this year if all goes well). There will be a regular and special edition (possibly w/artbox). GL will be airing on the Sci-Fi Channel starting July 28th. Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE has 52 episodes. There is no way that you can fit 12 regular DVD cases inside a Vol.1 artbox. The only thing that is slightly different is that FUNimation decide to label it Vol.7 instead of Season 2, Vol.1. |

A heads-up for Columbia House members, they just added the Shin-Chan set to the club for $23.98. This would make for a good paid selection as part of a BOGO fulfillment order. Hopefully they will keep adding Funimation sets in the future.
