DVDs at Burlington Coat Factory
So I went to Burlington Coat Factory today and I looked and there were some movies. Low and behold... the 3 disc of Gladiator for 6.99 also the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 disc with the metal faceplate. The rest were not as great of buys, but still a few good movies.
Lost In Translation the Untouchables the Wedding Crashers, I believe A few more I can't remember the name. If you have one near you, you might as well take a look. Joey

Didn't McDonalds do a DVD deal a few years back? I remember them selling The Aadams Family movies for $5 with purchase. Also Pizza Hut did a DVD deal with the purchase of a Pizza deal, I got Mr. Mom & Honeymoon In Vegas from PH

Ultra-cheap? There's a 20% off any one item coupon in the Burlington "Summer Savings Event" supplement in Sunday's (4/27) newspaper.

I remember McDonalds also had Ghost on sale in the early 90s if you bought a certain meal.
I got Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey via Pizza Hut in 2003...and something else too, I think Weekend at Bernie's.

uhh, i dont know where you guys shop, but most convenience stores have sold dvds for a few years now. i mean, pretty much all major chains.
i cant recall ever seeing anything dvd-wise in a convenience store worth buying... and more often than not they appear to be resealed versions of 6-month-old releases (probably sold to them by Blockbuster or something).

I've seen 'em around for a while too. Priced double what they should be and titles that I'm never looking for, but I guess they are "convenient".
Went to BCF to see if I could get lucky and find Gladiator and made the mistake of asking an employee where they keep their DVD's. I had been to this particular store about a week earlier and they had a small cardboard display of your run of the mill $9.99 titles next to the front registers. When I went in this time, it wasn't there so I "thought" I would save some time and see where they had moved it. "We don't have DVD's" was the answer I got. I thought maybe they had sold out(although I was perplexed at how this had happened with the generic, overpriced stuff I had seen) and before I could stop myself, I asked "none at all?". She said "nope, none." I thanked her and turned to leave, going through the registers instead of around the edge of them and there were TWO cardboard displays of DVD's. I wish I could say that I found the copy of Gladiator for which I was looking, but this isn't a happy ending story. Just a story about how I was stupid enough to ask a store employee for any kind of information. I'm at the point now where I wonder why they don't just put a guard at the door, security stickers on ever single item and make stores self-checkout. It's an absolute waste of money to hire these mouth breathers to "work" there. |

Hit the nearest BCF and no luck with Gladiator. They had 3 cardboard displays by the register. Some of the titles I remember seeing...
About Schmidt Anchorman: Unrated Born on the Fourth of July (latest version) Brewster's Millions Connie and Carla The Last Kiss The Mask Mission: Impossible II (2-Disc Set) Mission: Impossible III (single disc) Smokey & the Bandit (original) Stepford Wives (remake) Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Platinum Series (remake) War of the Worlds (Single Disc) Wedding Crashers Some were widescreen, some were fullscreen only.

I made the rounds today and hit some new stores, this being one of them. Saw most of the titles listed here, there were two cardboard racks (one in each register aisle) and all marked $6.99. Also saw some other titles, but can't remember. EDIT: remembered one... Catch Me If You Can
Didn't find Gladiator 3-disc there, BUT i did find it at A.J. Wright for $4.99! Good day, these sweet deals are popping up everywhere.Last edited by basaro; 04-29-08 at 09:51 PM. |
