I was at my local Best Buy tonight checking out the BD deals and I saw that both Layer Cake and The Patriot BDs were both on sale this week for $14.99 each.

This reflects a "2 for $30 sale" online as well that includes both of these:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....at133300050026

Furthermore, there were other BD titles marked at $14.99 B&M that are not on that offer page. The ones I remember are Big Fish, A Knight's Tale, A Few Good Men, Stealth, and XXX. There may be a couple I forgot. These extra ones may be regional so YMMV.

$54.99 with an exclusive book. $99.99 for the HD and BD versions.

Also as part of the deal, Seasons 1-3 are $39.99 and 4-6, Part 1 are $44.99 each.

As alarming as that is, I'm more scared that BB now sells FASHION BAGS! Well, I won't ever have to twist my GF's arm to go to BB anymore...

360 HD DVD Player for me. 180$ for a player, Heroes Season 1 and 5 HD DVDs is too good for me to hold off. I had no plans to buy a Bluray or HD player anytime soon either until I saw this thread.

Depending on the contents of the book, maybe Sopranos 6.2 as well. If the book is nothing special, I'll be picking up Sopranos at a later date at a CD Warehouse "used."

Looking through this thread -- it appears he indicated he could get it for $10 less...

He said $10 less, not $10.

As far as the Layer Cake/Patriot deal for $30, FYE has all Sony Blu-Ray titles on sale at half off. These two titles are also $15 at FYE. If you have a Backstage Pass, you'll get another 10% off. I just picked up Bram Stoker's Dracula, Underworld and Final Fantasy for $13.49 each.

It says "Save $20 instantly" so I assume it's $20.99.

No, it says $20 off a purchase of 2 of those titles. So it's really $30.99, and you're forced to buy another title...

That 360 HD add on is too good to pass up, although Im still kinda hesitant becasue I dont have an Elite and obviously dont have it hooked up via HDMI. Might have to stick with my upconvert.

If I didn't have Heroes S1 on regular DVD, I'd probably be in for the 360 external...but my upconverting player does a pretty good job for Heroes.

In for Mr. Brooks/Eyes Wide Shut/Hostel II (maybe)/Mysterio.

They are going to be taking a dumping on that XBox HD add on. To give away Heroes and 5 other HD's. I wonder if Microsoft wants to clear some stock. I am not an owner of either HD format. But, most of the people I know who have HD-Dvd don't own the xbox add on.

Maybe they're just trying to get HD-DVD players in more homes?

It looks like that might be 7 free HD DVDs with the XBOX attachment. If you read above the Toshiba player a few pages down, it says 2 free DVDs in store (max $34.99 each), plus the five by mail with ANY player purchase.

In total then it would be:

XBOX HD DVD Attachment
Heroes
5 by mail
2 in store
King Kong (is that still in the boxes these days)

All for $180. Wow.

Well I'll be getting The Shining (HD-DVD) for $24.99 and I'm gonna have to wait until Friday to pick up the last season of Veronica Mars.

Ew, PDFs? oh well.

That's a pretty lame halloween sale. I mean, some good movies, but I kind of already have them. Still, cheers for passing this on, now I knew to go ahead and cancel my ridiculous Kubrick order through WHV, I'll just pick up the box set instead...

there's gonna be more titles on sale the following week for halloween. it'll be the masters of horror individual titles and the after dark films to die for releases. not sure if it's ALL for both lines, but they'll be $4.99 each. good deal, right?
