The PS3 for $499.99? I'm more interested in The Last Dragon for $4.99. Sho'Nuff!

And thanks, speedy. You are da mastah!

$499 for the PS3 and 5 free movies is a great value! It would have been nice to get it for that price, but we've gotten so much use out of it the last 4 months that it has been well worth it. I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence about purchasing one.

If you read the ad closely, you get 5 Blu-Ray movies via rebate and two instantly.

I thought the two freebies for the Blu Ray player was only for the one in the ad, not the PS3?

Whoops.

Blu-ray is what Sony is betting the farm on to save their bacon after the failure of the PSP and UMD. The $100 instant rebate deal Toshiba ran for a month scared the poo out of them. Sony is desperate. End of discussion.
Small print of the promotion says....

"All submissions become property of Buena Vista Home Entertainment (BVHE)"

"BHVE reserves the right to wirthdraw or modify any terms of this offer."

"BVHE will not be liable for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, illegible, incomplete or postage-due mail or lost, stolen or destroyed proof-of-purchase tabs."

At the very end of the small print it has "© Disney"

It is obvious that the logos listed along the bottom are all members of the Blu-ray Disc Association. This is a Disney/BVHE promotion.

I've been holding onto this since Tuesday (as I thought it would be MAJOR news).

Thursday is the day I usually debut the CC & Target ads.

Alas, still no Target ad in my mailbox

I assume this is the 1-disc. If it's the 2-disc Extended Cut, I'll be picking it up!

Thanks for the info on the PS3 speedy. It's still not low enough for me to get it.

Why is making down the PS3 to a more affordable 499 seen as desperation? Sony, as well as Microsoft, are in it to make money. Bill Gates will reach as far into your pockets as you will let him so please don't start the fanboy discussions. Everyone knows that you can't sell software without first moving the hardware. Sony will start moving the hardware in droves so that the software will follow. I applaud them for starting to give people incentives to invest in their products.

I'd recommend to move the HD/BD discussion to the HD Forum before one of Speedy's helpful threads gets locked.

And on the plus side, thanks for the early warning on the PS3 Speedy, I think that I talked my brother into taking the plunge.

Since Tuesday? Wow, I would've spilled the beans much sooner.

How do you receive the ads so early? I've always wondered, but I suppose its a trade secret huh?

Thanks a ton for posting, I am a long-time weekly Thursday reader.

May I request we reserve the HD discussion for another thread? PLEASE?

Especially since I have a legit question I don't want buried in the turmoil. Am I reading this right about the Optoma HD70 projector, that it's 999, but you get a $200 mail-in rebate PLUS a free screen? Speedy, could you clarify? This is the projector I've been thinking about picking up, and almost did today. But this is obviously a better deal (screen plus rebate). Thanks.

At least you guys believe me.

Over at NeoGAF they're doubting my truthfulness.

How absurd!

Always glad to help you bravesmsg. Make sure he gets the 5 Blu-ray movies too!

It's just as I stated.

The projector is the Optoma HD70 which is listed at $999.99 before $200 mail in rebate.

"free 92" projector screen with purchase after mail in offer // $199.99 value"

Available online, by phone and in select stores.

So the screen is worth $200 too. WOW... I wish I had space in the Cow Cave for one of these .

People really reacted positively the last time I posted this deal but it did NOT have an extra $200 rebate besides.

Great Deal!
