I suppose that comes from buying almost exclusively used items, which rarely come in "like new" condition locally.
I can't help but be surprised that we have so many people who don't know what the fuck they are talking about before they comment on something. I never once mentioned that the "container" was the problem. That crappy packing causes the discs to often come off their spindles and bounce around inside their boxes and get really scratched up.

I pay a premium for "new" product, not "like new", and definately not "constantly scratched the fuck up". And why should you care where I take my business. If you like fucked-up product, for very little savings over not-fucked-up product, feel free to shop there.

Mark responded to the crappy yellow envelope situation in the DVDPlanet Sucks thread.

His response:

"Re: Bubble Mailers

I wanted to say that we no longer ship items in bubble mailers that are being shipped internationally. We are in the process of reviewing customer feedback on the mailers, evaluating damage rates, etc. Will post more information when I have it. It is not our intent to downgrade the quality of merchandise you receive from us.

I am very sorry if some of your items have been damaged. This is a hot topic for me and I am trying to bring some resolution."

My Raymond Bernard set arrived (undamaged) in a padded envelope, but, strangely, La Strada arrived in the traditional packaging.

DVDPlanet still has my business when it comes to selling used discs.

Guarantee your titles are in the minority. Out of exactly 60 discs I'd been hoping to trade in small batches, only about 12 survived the with either the same "buy" price or a modest enough decrease that there was still some value in sending it in. None went up. None.

And, as I mentioned, checking titles I was hoping to buy used from DVD Planet at some point, but which are now not being bought by the company at all (since the update), has yielded a drastic drop in...what's the best term...future availability? Let us know how long they keep all your business, though, I can't imagine everything you will ever sell to them has gone up in trade-in value. That's a pretty rare collection indeed. Of course, it's obvious you lucked out for now...

And Second Spin's prices on the vast majority of stuff they buy have been far too low for ages now. Unfortunately, on a lot of stuff, DVDPlanet has simply come more in line with places like them, whilst offering a token 25- or 50-cent improvement here and there. Oh well...

Luckily my shipment arrived in a box! I'm so relieved. To other Aus/NZ shoppers waiting for their transatlantic shipments - don't worry.

Transatlantic ? The route for shipments in your region should be transpacific unless DVDPlanet loves crossing multiple oceans before delivering the packages and keeping customers in suspense whether it will be deliverd in bubble-wrap or a box !

Hey yo....I need some coupons....I've got about a $50 or more order I'm putting on hold here. I don't want to place it just to see coupons go up the next day. Anybody got a status report?

Mark,

Thanks for the coupon codes!

Any chance that DVD Planet will be listing FOOD OF THE GODS (MGM - releases 9/11) and THOR THE CONQUEROR (Televista - released 9/4)?

Any chance of updating preorders for Blu-ray? There are a ton of Fox and other pre-orders that are still not listed on DVDPlanet.

I made mention of this in the store forum in a response to another poster, but I'll make mention here. I submitted an sell order on August 31 and sent via Media Mail to DVD Planet. (Media's fast for me because we're only two states away from each other.) I received email notification of the credit hitting my account today.

looks like theres some kind of genius special scientific formula that dvdplanet uses to determine whether an order will ship by envelope or box. either that or its random.

my order of 4 sd-dvds shipped via envelope, and one of the cases in slightly bent

single DVD titles get sent in a small little box. multiple-title orders ship in envelopes.
