Question about 24

Does it mention whether or not the 24 sets are the old versions or the new slim cases?

Good Burger is considered one of the worst films ever (IMO) and so it's diehard fans keep hoping that Criterion will pick it and give it the treatment it so richly deserves.....
Oh... I guess I should be embarrassed because I didn't think it was that bad. Although I'm pretty sure that anything with Steven Seagal is in competition for worst movie ever.

Has a big store ever had this kind of deal on The Shield before?

I've seen random episodes, liked them a lot despite being kinda lost with the story, but could never remember to catch them new. I don't think I can pass up 4 seasons for $77 with tax, even if they have to sit on the shelf for awhile.

I've seen Season 1 for sale at various e-tailers like Amazon, but I've never seen all the seasons for sale like this at a big store. Yes, it's definitely worth picking up all these sets for this price. You can watch them to get the foul taste of 24 season 6 out of your mouth.

I wish Season 5 was on sale--I still haven't seen it!

Well, yes. During BF (black Friday) the last few years I've PM'ed BB @ Circuitcity to get season 1 through 3 for $13.xx each (110% price guarantee) and then I got season 4 for about $15 2-3 months ago, but that was online @ fye.com (used a few coupons to bring the price down). Still waiting on season 5 to go down in price though. I'm hoping BF this year will bring it below $20. If it doesn't then we might have to wait until season 6 is released to see a deal on season 5.

Thanks for the responses re: The Shield. Talked to a co-worker today who said I'd be stupid to pass them up. Money is good right now so I'll be at CC on Sunday to get all 4.

Yes..... I just finished them an hour ago.

The Wii is in both the Target and Circuit ads for 5/27 - 6/2.

I don't think the Rock was anywhere near as bad as Armageddon.
Rather good, even, as action movies go.

A long-running theory my friends and I have had is this:

Criterion: "Hey, Mr. Bay, can we have The Rock?"

Bay: "Only if you take my ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE [since I haven't made Transformers yet!]--ARMAGEDDON!"

Criterion: "*Gulp* ..o-ok...I guess so..."

And the rest is history.

Thanks for the heads-up speedy. But since it will probably be at least a couple months before I get through seasons 1-4, I'll probably hold off on picking up S5. Appreciate it.

Just came from Circuit City to see how much inventory they had of the stuff going on sale tomorrow. I noticed the 24 sets were on sale at 39.99 and 49.99, and that price would expire on 6/5/07. So the 21.99 price could be for the slim sets of 1-4, and season 5 which is currently out.

Terps: they're only 13-15 eps each.
I just got them from BB (to PM tomorrow) and checked it out.
I'd not even thought about it (should've known from Rescue Me as another FX show...) but...jeez. The price on these is nuts. Even at a PMed 14.99 that's a little higher than they ought to be.

Can you order the Circuit City deals online? The closest one I have is about 100 miles away. I want to order the Shield 1-4, but when you search online for them they're still $50 each on the CC website.
