Just got back from the Ross at Gateway Center in Portland. Pretty much all the same titles as mentioned above. Picked up the one and only Poseidon SE copy they had. Lots of kid and exercise DVDs, but not much else worth noting.

That was the exact reason I managed to rangle her into seeing it with me.
On a related note, great first date movie! I filled him up with indian food and forced him to watch Grindhouse... for some reason he still sees me.

You took your sister with you on that first date?

Hey, a little "buffer zone" in case of a bad date never hurt anyone, right?

Sis #1: Hey, I'll buy dinner and the movie ticket if you'll come with us.

Sis #2: Great! Ummm..... why?

Sis #1: Well, if the date goes bad, you can fake an allergic reaction or something so we'll have to beat feet outta there, okay?

Sis #2: Oh, yeah, no problem!

Besides, if you were a guy going on a first date with someone, and she brought along her sister, wouldn't that be considered a potential "bonus" in your eyes?

I didn't realize it sounded that way. Actually, I saw it the first time with my sister, our best friend Jessica, and my friend Jen. We got burritos before hand and I snuck my thai chicken one into my bag. My sister spent half the movie watching me and being grossed out that I could manage to eat that and watch all the gore in Planet Terror and not be bothered at all. Not that you needed to know any of that.

I can't really defend myself though because my sister has been on maybe three of our other movie dates. She's my best friend and is always hanging around, it happens. *shrug*

Oh, and I am a dude. So brother #1 and sister #1. I think that is one of the some what impressive things about my original comment... I managed to get a picky-eating wimpy gay kid with A.D.D. to eat Indian food and then sit through all of Grindhouse. I was proud of myself.

Sorry, but I can't believe other people are noticing how parents leave their kids just run around that store. It's hilarious seeing other people comment on that. I don't think I've EVER been in there and not have said "why can't parents learn how to watch their f***ing kids?".

I haven't seen any DVDs worth mentioning in my Ross. But I haven't been in there in awhile, mostly because I can't stand the people.

I just returned from the local Ross... picked up Flintstones S4 for $7.99 and couldn't resist SCENE-IT 007 Edition for $4.99.

I keep checking back at my local Ross looking for Towering Inferno, but no luck yet. Have any others seen Towering Inferno: Special Edition at their own Ross?

Saw UNDERWORLD: Superbit and the 2-disc limited edition of MEN IN BLACK both for $6.99. I got the MIB back when it was first released, but I almost bought it because I assume that there are still copies out there with the poster signed by Rick Baker.

Wow, a Superbit title?! Are the Superbits OOP? Thanks to the other poster about the 007 Scene-it, I might have to snag that one. Of course there's not really much of a point. I'd kick everyone's ass in that game!

Most of the Ross stores around here - with the big exception being the downtown one - aren't nearly as bad as the ones on the mainland that I've been to, but you still see a lot of that scavanging/ravaging mentality where people just throw things haphazardly on the floor or any old place that seems convenient. The thing I usually encounter that's the most annoying are all the morons trying to make returns that hold up the damn line for an hour. They're always trying to return opened items and things without receipts, or stuff that's 6 months past the return period. Then they want to put up some stubborn indignant argument why they can't get their money back. Or else it's the ice addict shoplifters trying to make a "return" that they don't have a receipt for and mounting some rambling incoherent argument when they don't get what they want. I have a thing with Ross. I just hate the place on some almost visceral level. It's everything: the lighting, the smell, the clueless employees, the rude customers...it all conspires to offend my sensibilities. Unfortunately my mother always goes there and usually sandbags me when we're on an unrelated shopping trip in the nearby area like to Costco or something.

At least these DVD deals give me something to rationalize the trip now. And it gives me something to browse through next time I'm stuck there besides the baskets and knick-knacks. I might even have to pull a quick stopover at the one near my work on my lunch break tomorrow. Some of those DVD's are great scores, even if I have to lower myself to going to Ross to get them.

The Keeaumoku St. Ross isn't as bad as the rest on Oahu...at the Pearlridge Ross I actually saw someone encouraging their child to climb up a display to reach the shiny bauble on top...too bad something can't be done to keep people like this from reproducing.

Still haven't found Towering Inferno (I think That'sAllFolks actually meant Poseidon Adventure), but I did score the original release of the 1982 "Annie" for $5.99. Unlike the current "Special Anniversary Edition" foolscreen release, the OOP original featured the 2.35:1 widescreen version (though not anamorphic).

That's the one by my work; and you're right, it's nowhere near as bad as the downtown one or Pearlridge. The best kept, best run one is the Hawaii Kai store. That's the one I usually get roped into going to since it's right by Costco. That's probably the cleanest most orderly one I've ever been to.

Just bought the 1-disc of Cinderella Man for $6.99.
Airplane 2 for $3.99.
My wife messed up Shark Tale, but found out Ross now had some in. The sticker was ripped with no price listed and the UPC missing most of it, so the cashier rang it up for $3.99.
