King Kong - Prices

Decided to start this thread early and update it as more prices come in. For now, here are the prices I've found online. Prices in red are the lowest on the list.

Store - 1-Disc/2-Disc
Amazon - 14.98/19.98
Best Buy.com - 16.99/22.99
Buy.com - 15.97/22.99
Circuit City - 13.99/22.99 (free candy bar)
Costco.com - NA/21.79
DeepDiscountDVD - 18.58/21.27
DVD Planet - 20.97/21.67
Overstock.com - 15.88/19.88
Target - 14.99/20.99 (free KK comic book)
Tower.com - 14.99/16.99
Walmart.com - 15.87/26.33

Update: Added Target, Circuit City prices. Thanks to Speedy for those!

Hopefully those Tower prices will be in-store as well! It worked when Walk the Line was released.

Holy crap. Since when did Tower Records have low prices like that? They used to make Sam Goodys look like Wal-Mart.

Now I'm sad the Tower Records near me went under. Of couse after some major construction work, we ended up with a Best Buy on or near the same location. So I guess it all works out.

Thanks for the early prices. That 2-discer for 16.99 sounds sweet. Too bad there arent any Tower Records around my parts.

Doesn't it say Tower.com? You don't have to live near a store to order it from their online store.

By the time you pay shipping and taxes on it you might as well pick it up locally. There's not enough savings or benefit in dealing with the hassle of ordering it.

I will be adding prices for Best Buy (I believe, though, the online price might be what you'll find in store), Circuit City, etc when they come online.

Those look like about the standard first week pricing for Best Buy. It might be a little cheaper that week, but I'm guessing that Costco will be the cheapest B&M for the 2-disc set.

Tower's B&M has always had the same price as their online store, and so I doubt anyone will be able to beat Tower's $16.99 price (assuming you have a Tower Records in your area). For those of you with a Tower B&M nearby, you should be able to complete their online survey in order to get an additional $5 off of $20 on your next instore purchase. The survey is pretty short and the $5 off coupon lasts through the end of April.

www.towerrecords.com/survey

Also, I noticed that FYE.com has this dvd for $22.99 with a $7.00 rebate. Granted, I've never sent away for an FYE rebate, but I have read numerous posts where people were complaining about not receiving their rebates. So YMMV with that one.

I have both stores near me, and without a doubt I'll be going to Tower for this. It's not worth the hassel of dealing with FYE's rebate just to save a few cents.

FYE.com - $22.99 + .39 stamp - $7 MIR = $16.38

Free shipping $25 and over. I ordered it with Howl's Moving Castle [which also had a $7 MIR].

Dorsalphin beat me by the time I got back to this thread. This'll be my first rebate with FYE, but i've done plenty with Coconuts and have never had a problem.

Unfortunately, there aren't any Tower Records in my area, or else this would definately be an option.

The rebates for Howl and Kong ask for
  1. the completed rebate form
  2. order confirmation email
  3. packing slip
That's it.

Thanks, TOLEN and others. I ordered King Kong 2-disc and Narnia 2-disc from Tower.com. Free shipping and no tax (no Towers in my state). This seems to be the best deal around.

I checked some of their other prices though and they stunk.

How fast is Tower's free shipping usually? Also, where do they ship from?

Thanks!

Tower's free shipping is usually pretty good. At least for my orders (and I think for all orders), they always ship from California. They don't ship media mail, so it takes a couple to a few days generally to arrive, rather than like 2 weeks or so from DDD.

Looks like I'll be pricematching Target at BB.
