$7 is a lot, but if you throw the title into DVD Price Search, the next cheapest price is like $50 or something. Maybe this is a re-release, and it's going to be cheaper elsewhere in the near future. Who knows. I didn't look too deeply into it because I really shouldn't order anything for a while.

Potentially great news regarding the Columbia House DVD Club. They are now offering ADV titles. The only anime titles that they have right now are the 3 volumes of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040(Essential Anime). Hopefully they'll keep adding titles-I could use the last 3 volumes of Elfen Lied.

I also just noticed that Columbia House has all 4 volumes of Fruits Basket available as enrollment selections. This is an even cheaper way to acquire this series compared to the Amazon deal.

James, CH has had Fruits Basket, Blue Gender, Conan, etc for a while now. I think it's still cheaper just to buy them as box sets rather than to buy individual discs from them.
Now if they started carrying ADV thinpaks that would change everything... |

That's weird. I added the ones you told me last month, but I guess when I pulled SkyDog's updated table, he updated the outdated table, and I carried that one over... I'll update it again.
Edit: Or maybe I just screwed up, I don't know. Ha ha, either way--it's updated. P.S. I think it was just me. Thanks to SkyDog for his table help, as always.

So the total came out to $43 -- the exact same price as the original Amazon deal. Thus, after taking into consideration all the hassle, the original Amazon price was clearly the best deal. At $50, it really depends on how frugal you are (A side note, they had Wizard of Oz Definitive Collection mispriced last week for about the same price as a fulfillment. The $30+ set came out to about $8.20. Keep an eye out for mispriced box-set fulfillments.)

I don't want to derail this thread into a CH discussion(there's a whole subforum for that), but I want to address a few points made by Gamelore.
1. Use code LMT for enrollment and the deal is as follows- 6 for $0.49 each($2.94), take a 7th title for $9.95. Free shipping on all 7 titles and you have to buy 2 more in the next 2 years. The total for the enrollment package would be $12.89 plus whatever your state sales tax may be. 2. The $5 off of your first online order of $30 or more is still active- columbiahouse.com/webdvd(if you don't fulfill right away, they sometimes will email you an offer of $10 off of your first online order). 3. If you're patient, they will offer you free shipping on 3 or more titles and will even offer a buy 1 get 1 free deal. Generally, it will cost you around $45.88 plus tax to fulfill(2 $19.95 titles-preorders are always $19.95, 1 title at 50% off to qualify for free shipping-$10.98, deduct the $5 off web coupon for a total of $45.88 plus tax). Theoretically, the cheapest way to fulfill would cost you $29.90 plus tax for 4 titles(2 $19.95 titles, 2 free titles as part of a BOGO if you're lucky enough to get that offer, free shipping, deduct $10 off of your first order if you're lucky enough to get that email offer). So the total cost would be $58.77 plus tax for 10 titles($5.87 average). The ultimate deal would be $42.79 plus tax for 11 titles($3.89 average  ).Sorry for the long winded threadjack, but anyone interested in CH should really go through the threads in the DVD Club subforum. |
