Has anyone here ever heard of or seen Star Wars? It's a scifi flick from the '70's I think.... Would it be a good blind buy?

Ah well, I'll bite. I actually didn't pick up much (anything?) in this sale that was a blind buy. I'll drop another $4.79 and get one surprise in the mail...
Yeah, I can't promise you that you'll love it, but if you like dark science fiction(i.e. you're a DS9 kind of person) it is definitely up your alley. I taped it when it first aired, and watched it a few times. Here's the plot summary:

Actor Ron Silver's directorial debut is a futuristic adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat. In this nail-biter, a spaceship blows up on Christmas Eve. Eight passengers survive, and as they try to determine the reason their ship was destroyed, it becomes clear that someone among them is a terrorist responsible for the explosion. Tensions mount as supplies of food, water and oxygen run thin. Robert Loggia, Ron Silver and Cork Hubbert star.

Yes. It's not bad, but try and get the original version when it is finally released on DVD. Also, there are a few "prequels" out now that are pretty terrible.

Prequels suck don't waste your time and I would suggest waiting for original versions once released. Like jaymz said.

Me I will wait for a full 1-6 episode boxset. I am a sucker for boxsets. I hate the first 3 movies yet I will have to buy the full boxset. I need help.

So this one would apply for the '25 Movies of Christmas' Challenge? "

Now here's an odd one. I had several DVDs in my shopping cart honing my order for the last few days, and Galaxy Quest (DTS Edition) disappeared from my cart. I checked the site to see if it's still there and sure enough, it's gone- only the Dolby Digital version is available from them now. As this is an older release I'm guessing they can no longer get it from their distributor?

I've had to do this before with DDD, it's like orders get 'stuck' in their system or something and once they look it up, it gets processes. Or it could just be incredibly good timing and coincidental.
I'm gonna do that right now, thanks a lot!

Does anyone else find it odd how DDD will list movies titles in their "T" sections that begin with the word "The"?

That's how the alphabet works. Obviously their software isn't aware that normal filing techniques would ignore the the.

Note that, like Firefly, they aired these movies out of order. Plus, oddly enough, the special effects were a little better in the prequels that were shown later. And wasn’t the first one shown a spoof of the movie Space Balls?

The main thing I hate about their search system is that it only lists a few items per page, making it practically impossible to browse.
