Severely overrated if you ask me (which you kind of did). Sure the writing os OK - but its populated by sterotypical unpleasant teen types, an angstridden heroine of the "perky-I'll-worry-but-perservere" mold. It got pretty old fast (I lasted 5 eps and then tuned in a few sproadic times through the season b/c I kept hearing how "Great" it is).

I can't find this on the site. I searched for "Legendary Jerry Lewis" and "Jerry Lewis" - and don't see any 10 disc sets for 21.35 (or is it around 26.50 before the discount)? Any help here?

Is there an easy way to tell if an item is backordered and not in stock?

I disagree completely. It's a great blind buy; the show was one of the top five of last year (some would go even further).

put item in cart and it will usually say how many are in stock as you try to add more copies

Speaking of preorders whichwon't be preorders come Tuesday - does anyone know how this will work in terms of when the discount will be applicable? i.e. if I order early Tuesday Morning at 12:01 am, will I be eligible for the dicount, even if it doesn't go through when I put in my order (i.e. can I order it and then email them and say that as of 12:01am it wasn't a preorder so give me the 20%)? Or do I have to wait until the site actually gives me the discount in order to get it?

And, generally, when DO the discounts start applying for preorders that become nonpreorders in the middle of the sale?

Also, if you buy something early in the sale and then DDD lowers the price in the middle of the sale (does this happen?) can you email them and ask that they give you the lower price?

Similarly, does DDD ever RAISE prices in the middle of the sale? I assume if they do and you bought it before the price raise, then you get the benefit of the lower price that was in effect when you placed the order- right? But if you wait, and then the price rises, can you get the earlier lower price (which is basically what I asked above).

Does DDD pricematch Circuit City? CC has some good deals on HBO box sets in today's ad.

Thanks!

You and most of the other cirtics..but can you explain WHY you disagree by addressing the points I raised?

You didn't so much raise points as you raised opinion-based complaints. For example, you cited "sterotypical unpleasant teen types" which I don't see. I don't see any stereotyped characters similar to WB-themed shows. Obviously no single show is going to please everyone, but Veronica Mars pleases a hell of a lot more than it doesn't (you may be the only detractor in this thread). That fact alone shows why it's a solid blind-buy.

Has anyone been able to find the Live by Request Santana dvd that comes out Tues? Its 9.99 at CC Tues.
Also, the U2 Vertigo dvd....is it worth the extra 10 bucks for the 2 disc set?

Typing "Legendary Jerry Collection" in the search engine brings it up.

yes...but then you have to support Walmart (and not DDD). Sounds liek it's well worth the wait.

ah..got it now...thanks! So are these the cream of the Jerry Lewis crop? Or just some of the lesser ones that they threw together to get people to buy them? I recognize Nutty Professor & Cinderfella. Are the other 8 decent flicks?

No, this is one thing DDD is very strict about. The price you buy something for at DDD, is the price you must pay. They allowed me one exception in the past, but they wrote something on my account so I can't ask for a retroactive price reimbursment again.

They can raise prices during a sale, but you're stuck with the new price if you hadn't ordered before that. They are very strict about the price you agree to pay at the moment you buy something there.

edit: Unless it's still in pre-order or backorder status. Then they make you cancel and reorder at the new price.

So then DO they raise prices in mid sale? My concern is about the Buffy set. I'm afraid they'' raise it from $140 to the $170 or so Amazon is selling it for. So does it behoove me to order it ASAP as soon as it's no longer a pre-order - under the theory that they might be planning to raise it at any moment? And at what point IS it no longer a preorder?

Yeah they can raise prices during the sale, but DDD raising prices is very uncommon and even less common during a sale. Or they can just plain remove items completely, all of a sudden, making you wish you could even get it at DDD's normal price, let alone 20% off.

And going OOP this coming January are 28 Days Later, The Beach, Carousel, The King and I, South Pacific and Miracle on 34th St. (1947).

I'm sure the musicals will be reissued since they did that with State Fair, Oklahoma, and Sound of Music. So I'd avoid any older titles if they have minimal features.

Havent planned my 2nd order yet, was going to pick up the Eddie Guerrero dvds some other time, but I just found out he passed away so I have to snatch that up next.
What? Do you mean WWE's Eddie Guerrero?

Yea, Eddie Guerrero passed away a few days ago. Check out the Sports thread for more info, or the WWE website also has some details.

Appreciate everyone posting their finds, has definitely helped me assemble a shopping list.

Do any of you anime fans have any comments on the Ping Pong Club disks? Looks like you can pick up the whole collection (5 separate disks, unfortunately no box set listed at DDD right now) for about $24. Sounds like Japan's anwer to South Park, but I can't find any decent reviews anywhere.

Surprised how many people are buying Office Space here for $11+ when you can get it for $8.99 (or less with 10% off/free shipping coupon) at Coconuts.com right now. It does involve a $5 rebate, however. Plus, Quiznos is apparently offering a separate $3 MIR as well. Not sure if the rebates can be stacked, but if so, would be $5.99 AR.
