Need some advice for the ADV clearance sale
I'm sure most of you have known this sale is going at ADV. Linky
I found some great deals but was frightened by these words: Products offered through this sale are clearance and close-out items. As such, product bar codes will be reconfigured, replaced or physically altered (including by means of cutting, punching or drilling). Some products may be open box. Some products may be delivered without full retail packaging. Except as expressly provided otherwise, products are sold as-is. Does it mean the DVDs I am ordering are going to come with UPCs removed or holes on UPCs or even worse? Is the condition of DVDs in this clearance sale going to be different from what I see at B&M stores? I've never ordered from ADV. I need some advice from folks who has done this before. Thank you so much.

dvdphilic, I have this sale posted in last month's thread. I have posted a disclaimer with the update (and it should be towards the top of the thread). People have had varied experiences, but don't be surprised if you receive DVDs with UPCs slashed or even worse. Some people have gotten lucky with minimal to no damage. It seems they are now drilling UPCs instead of slashing them, but I've only ordered once because I don't really want to take the risk, and shipping kinda kills the deal for me. I live in Houston, where they are located, and e-mailed them asking if I could do some kind of local pick-up, but they said I couldn't. Oh well!
Just take this as a buyer beware. Their prices are really good, so it's just a call you're going to have to make.

Some folk reported in AOD that the Mars Daybreak V.1 LE is tagged at $20 at BestBuy, and that the tin is not huge, perhaps a little bigger than the Appleseed LE case. Bestbuy.com says $26.99 though.

My Mars Daybreak arrived today from Overstock, and it is indeed the tin version with a soundtrack and magnet. I'm going to leave out the Best Buy price for now since you can get it online for cheaper shipped. If that changes, I'll gladly add it to the list.

I think it should be noted that a limited number of copies of Inu Yasha Movie 3 at Best Buy had a great special packin - the original Japanese soundtrack which is at least a 35$ value alone. Not sure how many copies were made, but I was able to get it for only 17.99$ + tax. Get it while you can.

I guess I should share that I got the Yugioh movie from Blockbuster in their 2 for $12 previewed DVDs. They had a lot better selection in their 3 for $25, the only anime I saw was Ghost In the Shell 2 though there could have been a more hidden since the selection was fairly big. Might be some anime gems in there.

Boxsets seem to be the best bet. Presently, I have the following in my cart:
