Good deal I'd get it if I didn't already have it.

The question then becomes, do I, a person who doesn't have the Hitch Criterion box set, get this and the other titles individually at a later date, or do I hold out and get the box?

I'd say get the box if you can, it would make for a nice part of someone's collection. I've picked up 3 of the 5 titles individual because I didn't have the ~$115 when it was in print, and now I can't really afford some of the prices that people are asking, so I guess I'll just get around to picking up the other 2 individually as well, and hoping at some point I find someone on ebay selling just the actual box.

Get this now. Considering it is OOP as well as the box set you should get while you can, a bird in the hand yadda yadda.

If you ever do get the Box Set down the road you can easily sell this title for what you paid and probably more.

Are the individuals the exact same DVDs as that come in the boxset? I just got into CC's and have been trying to figure out which way to go, since the boxset makes you have to file discs out of order by number, which would probably bug me more than trying to find each one in the boxset on it's own.

The box is exactly the same as individual releases...its actually just a slip cover that fits all 5 cases. Although it would be nice to have the box, its not worth the extra effort or money, its pretty flimsy looking from what Ive seen.

I'd also like to comment on the film's quality. The movie is GREAT plain and simple. I don't think Cary Grant has turned in a better serious role than he did in this movie. And then there's also the wonderful Ingrid Bergman and the always terrific Claude Rains. I highly recommend this film to everyone. One of my favorite classic movies.

Add me to the list that would get this if I didn't already have it. Got the box set a while back, and have since traded off one of the titles, but this one is a keeper.

I wouldn't pay extra money for the box. It's just a large slip cover like on The Lion King and The Incredibles, but not even as sturdy as those.

Er...I would love to pick this up, too. Except for the fact that I own 3 of these, myself. I just can't stop picking these up! Must...resist.....

It's in stock at Digital Eyes for $26 shipped if you don't want to wait.

I ordered this yesterday when I saw the price. I was going to order Rififi CC but I couldn't pass up the price on Notorius. Never seen this so it's a blind buy but I've never been disapointed in Hitchcock yet.

That's what I was wondering since it suddenly seems to be readily available again. The answer to your last question is yes. Charade, Mon Oncle, and M Hulots Holiday are some titles that went OOP and were later released again by Criterion.

I had no idea that Mon Oncle/M. Hulot's went OOP, are you 100% sure of this? I know Playtime has been and still is OOP, and Charade only went OOP because they found a better print so they wanted to rerelease it, or maybe it wasn't in OAR, one or the other I believe. Notorious and Spellbound, while available still at some stores, are definately OOP (as listed on the Criterion website). It should be safe to say that like Rebecca, once the current supplies are sold, it will only be available in the marketplace.

I'm a 100% positive they were OOP because I managed to get several copies of Mon Oncle before the supplies dried up and sell them on Ebay for a big profit. Here is a thread when they were announced for re-release in 2004.
