Seinfeld DVD Buying Experiences
I hope you other Seinfeld "fanatics" had an easier time acquiring a Seinfeld Gift Set, than I did this morning.
Here is how my ordeal went:
8:00 am - Arrived at Walmart. They had none on display and was told to wait as they were "getting them out from the back". After waiting 30 min, was told "We Only have Vol. 1 & 2. Do not stock the giftset".
8:30-9:00 am - Wait in car for BB to open
9:00 am - BB also only has the individual volumes. They sold out of the giftset during the midnight sale. They did have plenty of volume stock + the BB exclusive interview CD. $29.99/ea for the individual volumes. I passed.
9:30 am - Rolled into my local Target. They had 2 Gift sets on the shelf!!!! (for a mere $89.99). I paid at the register and went to customer service with my Compusa flyer to get the PM for $69.99. Was told that they do not PM.
10:00 am - Rolled into Compusa. No Seinfeld sets on the shelves at all. Asked the clerk to check in the back.....lo and behold she reappears with a Seinfeld giftset in her arms. $69.99.
10:30 am - Back to Target to return my $89.99 version. Had some choice words for the manager and alerted him to the fact that they were priced $20 over competition for the set.
Hope the rest of you had a smoother experience.

I just waited for my Gift Set order from Best Buy.com to arrive at my doorstep, around $58 after I get $25 off my next online purchase with them, not as good as the Coconuts offer but I wanted the gift set and no UPC cutting.

Went to BestBuy to pricematch with CompUSA ad - no gift sets. Was told that none of the Charlotte Best Buys received the gift sets today, but they would get some in tomorrow.
Went to Walmart and PM'd with CompUSA ad - $69.99 (although every time I PM at Walmart, it becomes a big ordeal as the cashiers, nor the customer service folks, know how to PM - why is this?)

I got a great deal, went to Target and grabbed seasons 1-2, 3 and Harry Potter , then got my 2 boxes of Pop Secret popcorn w/Seinfeld coupons. Cashier scanned everything and guess what........they took off $27.99 for each Seinfeld set and charged me only for the popcorn and Harry Potter. Total Cost $24.43 with tax.

I'm also in Charlotte (south side). I went to the SuperWalmart in Monroe and they did not stock the giftset (as mentioned in my original post). The Best Buy I referenced in my original post was the one on Independence Blvd.

I agree with you. I'm generally not a "bargain hunter", but $20 is a pretty significant difference.

Wouldn't ordering online at the better price be a much more efficient strategy? It's not like anyone *has* to watch all of these old tv episodes on the day they are released on DVD, right?

Sounds like some experiences would make for good episodes. First I checked two HWV's and neither recieved shipments. Tried pricematching their ad at Wallyworld - the cashier was all for it, but had to ask for help - it was then I knew it was all over... no go. Went ahead and went to Target in hopes of a price match (nada) but settled for the $28 price. BUT as it turns out I found a really cool figure I've been wanting on clearance, so it's all good.
