YMMV: The 3-FOR-$18 bins at Best Buy — List Finds Here

I had to pick up a Lithium battery for my 35mm camera at Best Buy and saw three huge bins of 3-FOR-$18 DVDs. I was kind of in a hurry so I only had a minute to rifle through titles and didn't see anything unique to my taste, but I thought I'd start a thread you can add to if you did find something. I don't know if this is limited to my Best Buy; thus, definitely a YMMV deal.

were they titles that aren't normally 3 for 18, or was it a big bin of the stuff they usually sell for 5.99?

Well this was at the Pin Hole Pinole, CA store (East Bay; I happened to notice you're in the Bay Area, as am I) Best Buy.

I guess I don't know, AX. Like I said I was in something of a hurry and only rifled through ten or so, not seeing anything of interest to me. When I saw a Barney DVD I, um, left. I think I saw some yellow labels saying 5.99 . . . but would that mean that that is what BB typically sells them for? It's the first time I noticed the bins, you see. I only make it into Best Buy once a year usually, on Black Friday. Although I did go there twice one year when my coffee maker coughed up its last joe LOL.

They've added a few titles I think. I saw Last Castle, Forces of Nature & other titles that were not normally in the $5.99 section. Still a lot of $5.50 Wally World stuff though. I did see the Barney DVD too.

The one here is strictly the usual $5.99 fair that's already covered in the $6-and-under sticky thread.

FYI: If you purchase any 2 $5.99 DVDs you get 10% off any regulary priced DVD (at bestbuy only)

This explains why I got a 10% off discount on a DVD when it rang up with two DVDs from the $5.99 bin yesterday.

Gee, and first-time viewers only have to wade through 8 pages to get to it.

I really wish we had Bargain Bin threads distinguished by store. And following some sort of naming convention — like, WALMART Under-$6.00-Bin . . . BEST BUY Under-$6.00-Bin . . . etc.

it would be nice but it's very time-consuming. The OP of the $6 thread, Abintra, said he spent well over 100 hours doing that thread. Also, a lot of times when you maintain a thread, you feel under-appreciated so it's not worth it to the thread-maintainer in the long run. If you or anyone else wants to maintain the $6 Bargain Bin DVD threads, then feel free to.

Why would they have a 3 for 18 dollar bin of 5.99 movies?,it just does'nt make sense, you could buy them individually cheaper(well one penny cheaper lol)but you would not have to get 3 if you did'nt want to you could just pick one or 2 and you are not loseing anything by not getting 3

Psychology. "3 for 18" sounds like a sale on titles that usually run for much more. "$5.99 movies" sounds like a bunch of crap movies that you probably wouldn't want for half that.

Actually, the Best Buy I went to today had their bin labelled $5.99 movies, and that is indeed the price they rang up at. But these were NOT all the typical 5.99 movies or $5.50 movies from the Walmart bin. There were many movies in there with higher sticker prices ranging up to 24.99, but they all rang up at 5.99... Of course, YMMV...
