Other people have reported this as well. Does anyone know if it matters what you buy in order to get the 25% off coupon? Can I buy a piece of candy to get it?

not sure what amount you have to spend to get the 25% but, I bought 2 DVDs for 30 dollars and got the 25% off coupon, also today I got a bagel, a bag of chips, and a soda for 4 dollars and got the coupon.

I think the cash register spits out the coupon whenever a transaction takes place

I know Borders doesn't have the best DVD prices around, but their prices are OK on some things. So here's my question: How's everyone going to spend their 25 percent off coupon, especially since this is one of those rare ones that actually works on DVDs? Anyone find a way (a box set, perhaps?) to make this coupon really valuable?

Use it on Criterion DVD. A $36 priced CC would cost $27 after coupon, about the same as the best online price, but with instant gratification.

if your Borders has the monstery legacy gift set its not too bad of a deal. I forgot the price that was listed at mine, it was between 70-75 bucks. After the 25% off I believe it will be 52-56 bucks + tax. not too bad for all 3 monster legacy DVDs plus the busts.

I bought a magazine, received the 25% off coupon, going to buy a DVD as that coupon allows 25% off dvd's also.

I tried to buy something for 40 cents, but it wouldn't spit out a coupon. The clerk thought that the purchase might have to be > $1. She said that purchases in the CAFE would also work. I went over, thinking I'd just get a coffee, when I noticed that the clerk was just tossing the receipts and the coupons if people were only getting small food items. I just asked her if I could get a couple of the ones she just threw out and she did. My version of dumpster diving

It could be that Monday (18th) was the last day of the promotion, since the whole idea (according to the coupon) is to get you to come BACK to Borders 10/21-10/25

The only DVDs I pick up from Borders are Zatoichi DVDs, as they are $14.99 (almost as good as DDDVD). Picked one up with that 20% coupon a few weeks ago for $11.99.

I saw the 3-disc Hellboy for $30.99. Surprisingly it wasn't on sale. At least it had no sale sticker and that was on all 5 copies that I saw. I didn't ask a clerk to verify though.

looks like the promotion ended a couple days ago. all cashiers are printed out the Visa/$20 gift card receipt now.

I think it was, like another poster mentioned, a deal where you have to come back to borders this weekend and use it.
