It is definitely not national. I was thinking of picking up the Batman: Animated Series set but the BB here didn't know what the hell I was talking about and thought I was BS'ing them.

hey guys i was at a bb in-store and decided to try it out...

i picked up $5.99 suicide kings to see if it worked and it rang up at $5.09 (15% off). the reciept doesnt show a discount and the employees had no idea of this deal, but it is definitely in the computer.

btw, this was west LA (pico and sawtelle).

I picked up Star Wars for $44.19 (after 15% discount) at BB in Pasadena. Employees have no idea but it looks like it's programmed in the system.

Very wierd - I was just in the W. Hollywood store and no one knew anything about the sale. I got a Duran Duran DVD and it didn't ring up at any discount. What the heck is going on with this totally inconsistent sale?

I think it's regional sale only.

Weird. Went to a Best Buy and bought Jason Goes to Hell ($9.99) and rung up at $8.49. Had I known, Iwould have bought some more sets... I'll need to go back soon.

Deal definitely absolutely works in Phoenix (ahwatukee store)!

And of course the employee (who had been working there 8 days) knew nothing of it.

I brought up a few items and scanned them as tests:

1) box sets work. I bought Marty Scorsese for $42ish
2) cheap movies work. I bought Basket Case/Return of Swamp for 8.49
3) worked on Dawn of Dead ultimate for $28.79
4) doesn't work on cd's, no big surprise.
5) does not work on sale items. Day After Tomorrow scanned at 15.99
6) you can use your rewards card with the deal for even more future savings.
7) you can pay with your rewards coupons

Is it just me or does anyone else think this is the weirdest sale ever in the history of Best Buy, if not all of Brick & Mortar retail since the dawn of time? I mean, its totally un=advertised (except for some paper in texas), no one in the store knows about it, and they don't promote it in store or anywhere else. What's the point of having the sale? I mean, the idea is to draw people into the store with the sale so that they buy more stuff. But here, people are bringing stuff they already decided to buy up to the register, ready to pay the higher price for it, but then they are charged less.

makes no sense.

I totally agree. It is also very inconsistent as to what stores seem to be a part of this. For example, the W. Hollywood store doesn't seem to be part of the sale, but the next closest store a few miles away, the W. LA store seems to be part of it, according to the posts here. There doesn't even seem to be any regional consistency.

I agree - most titles are cheaper at DDD, and I've been spoiled by buying most of my stuff used at Movie Trading Company using their half-price with a trade in. But for instant gratification, its pretty good. The only thing I bought were a couple of the new Best Buy-only MGM Midnite Movie double features.

I hate to break it to you, but it was also advertised in The Oregonian on Thursday (Just not a glossy insert, it was a two (2) page ad in the first section of the paper). So I am assuming that it was a national ad campaign.

It's definitely not advertised nationally. In the Twin Cities (where BB's HQ is), there was only a half-page ad in Thursday's paper, with no mention of this sale. I'll try it in-store later today to see if it's in the system.

Edit: Not working here...

I wonder why I got Best Buy coupons for this week good for 10% off DVDs?

I'll have to see if the 15% off is going on here and whether the 10% works with it.

I picked up The Girl Next Door, Star Wars Episode 1 and Episode 2 for $45 and change (with the Madden coupon). All rang up at the 15% off price at the Airport Way store, for anyone interested in the Portland, OR area.

Went this morning and picked up the Don Knotts Franchise Collection and instead of $14.99 it rang up at $12.74.

As others have mentioned there is nothing on the receipt about a discount, but it appears to be automatically deducted.

This was at the Downers Grove, Illinois BB at Lemont Road and 75th Street.

I'd like to know if this works in the Santa Clarita Valley area, in California. Or at least northern San Fernando Valley.

My girlfriend lives in mid-Wilshire, so any area around there would work for me, when i go to visit her.

Any 411 on those areas, guys?

Damn! I was in the same pasadena store and the DVD I wanted (regular priced) did not ring up with a discount. Totally inconsistent. Oh well!

Confirmed: 15% discount good WITH 10% coupon, LA area

I've been to West LA, Culver City and Hawthorne Best Buy last nite and today and was able to use the 10% off preferred customer coupon as well as a 10% off Best Buy Business customer coupon on top of the 15% off all DVDs.

So if you live in LA area and you got those babies in the mail for this weekend, you can get 25% off.

Better hurry, I think the 15% ends tonite...
