It's still available to order so I just placed another order. Hopefully it sticks.

"Unfortunately, we have discovered that in some cases customers that logged in during the maintenance period may have been able to actually place an order on another customer’s account. Again, we reiterate that there was never any ability to access or copy credit or debit card data. In other cases, customers may have updated and corrected their account information and placed legitimate orders. Unfortunately, our system cannot distinguish between these two situations. To that end, we feel that we must cancel all DeepDiscountDVD and DeepDiscountCD orders received during the maintenance period, which extended from 4:00 P.M. C.S.T. on Friday October 8, 2004 through Monday, October 11 at 10:00 A.M. C.S.T. These orders will not be processed or charged"

And I remember when I jumped on it when it was around $50 with a SRP of $84 a year ago. Guess it was a good thing that it never came. Its a great set. I wonder if blockbuster will buy back my disc one of this series that I bought years ago.

pOpus, you are allover the lot. You are now declaring that you have complete confidence in DDD. Yet on Oct. 11. you posted the above quoted comment remarking on continuing DDD weirdness. Now you seem to have had a Road to Damascus, Faith Based Moment, where you believe everything at DDD is as safe as Fort Knox. How you know that, before any customers have put it through a complete test, is based more on self-delusion than any objective criteria.

You asked why some people seem angry about the DDD fiasco. If, you had hired a security firm to guard your home while you were away, and when you returned, you found that not only were they not on duty, but they had left your front door open for all to enter, I bet your reaction would be. Well security people are just human, everyone makes mistakes.

Since you have elected to post your attack on me in not one, but two different forums, I think I should clarify things for you (since you seem a trifle confused).

I never lost faith in DDD. I logged into and out of the site numerous times over the weekend; I never saw any information other than my own, and I have no evidence whatsoever that anyone saw my information. Even if they did, it was nothing more than what anyone who happens to own a phone book could find out about me. My comment about the weirdness is simply that-- strange things were happening at the site, and this appeared to be part of the overall problems that the site was having. Nothing in what I said seemed to indicate that I had any problems with the security at DDD.

Personally, I think that a lot of people grossly overreacted to the problem. As I stated, I think that the situation could have been handled much better; however, I firmly believe (and always have believed) that no information that I cared to keep secure was available to be seen by anyone.

Your security company analogy doesn't hold water. DDD didn't open the door to my house, they merely showed the address. No confidential financial information was leaked, and no credit cards were stolen. My house (and my credit information) were always secure.

As for my "Road to Damascus, Faith Based Moment", I will take that any day over paranoid fear that allows people to make mountains out of molehills.

I was suprised myself but it's true: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142035/

Doesn't sound like we're missing anything though.

That's not a movie--it's a whole spin-off series, which also only lasted one season:
