I agree with you all on the Limited Edition thing.
The draw of getting a "Limited Edition" is that it's LIMITED. Once the inital production is done, that's it. No more. Subsequent demand for the out of production product should pull the value of that Limited Edition up. That demand should not be an indicator for the manufacturer to go ahead and make more "Limited Editions".
Knowing though that companies are in business to make money, not harnessing untapped demand is like leaving money on the table for them.
But the correct solution to this problem should be to produce a 2nd run of the product, but CLEARLY mark on the box that it is the 2nd run, and not the same as the inital Limited Edition run. The sets could even contain the same exact items. That way the collectors are happy, and the company is happy.
But apparently, as with many companies these days, monkeys are calling the shots.

That would be a great solution -NoxHaveN-.
I just received my Escaflowne TV Box as well and the number is also over 10,000+. I don't remember exactly, but it's like 10,5xx. Strange thing is on Bandai Entertainment's site, they have an:
ESCAFLOWNE - PERFECT COLLECTION
Release Date: 10.26.2004
Category: Action, Romantic, Fantasy
UPC: 669198210082
Language: English/Japanese
Subtitle: English
Format: DVD
Running Time: 750 min
Suggested Age: 13up
Episodes: 1-26 + MOVIE
Price: $99.98
http://www.bandai-ent.com/products/p...ils.cfm?id=414
AND:
ESCAFLOWNE - LIMITED EDITION DVD BOX SET
Release Date: 07.23.2002
Category: Action, Romantic, Fantasy
UPC: 669198043895
Language: English/Japanese
Subtitle: English
Format: DVD
Running Time: 680 min
Suggested Age: 13up
Episodes: 1-26
Price: $199.98
http://www.bandai-ent.com/products/p...ails.cfm?id=62
Looks like the PERFECT COLL. should come with the MOVIE as well. But doesn't say anywhere that it'll be individually numbered or come with the FIGURE. As for the LIMITED ED., naturally correct release date, individually numbered and the FIGURE was supposed to be ONLY available with this.
Additionally, TRS has the PERFECT COLLECTION for sale and is a completely different box!?
http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6...em/63853/4/0/0
So any guesses as to what we're receiving? A cross-breed between the 2 versions?@! I guess the only logical explanation is that Bandai released an additional 5000 boxes as an extention to the original 10,000.

The Perfect Collection is not a limited edition. It comes in a brick style packaging and it does not include the action figure.
tmy727 -is the number located on a silver strip on the bottom of the box? The number on mine is located on a removable silver strip.
BTW, Rightstuf e-mailed me saying that it is indeed limited to 10,000 units, but they gave no explanation as to why the number is greater than 10,000. I e-mailed Bandai directly to see what their response will be as to the number being over 10,000. I'll update after I hear back from them.

Does the Escaflowne perfect collection come with all the dvds of the limited edition? I bought an unnumbered box from rightstuf.com a while back, and was waiting to I could afford the dvds to get them.

Mine came just like how the Limited TV Box packaging was. Both BLUE Boxes (DVD Box & Figure Box) were held together by a clear wrap. The number was on a silver strip underneath. I already own a set with #6xxx - I guess I'll have to do a comparison test when I get home.

Here's an update to an earlier post regarding the Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (Director's Cut) single DVD.
Received and watched the entire thing last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though this Director's Cut version was cropped down to widescreen format from it's original 4:3 release, I didn't notice any major losses. But then again that may just be because I didn't have the OVA to do a side-by-side comparison.
Either way though, I seriously don't think that the enjoyment of the feature was dampened in anyway by the cropping. In addition, I found that the story being spliced together into one continuous feature flowed a lot better and definitely felt more like a movie than watching the 4 parts separately as in the OVA.
In most cases, I'm definitely what you'd consider a traditional purist...opting to go with the OVA as much as possible, so I was definitely a little dissappointed when I found out the Director's Cut was cropped. But having watched it again last night, I'm pretty satisfied with it...especially at the bargain madness price.

Select ADV products, not all... plus, the 40% off brings most 29.98 retail ADV products to DDD normal price levels, but I would highly recommend buying from Rightstuf anyway (I think 75% of the deals in these threads come from them...)

Not to poo poo the post, but I did a quick price search for the Soul Hunter collection and found a slightly lower price:
DDD.com
29.99
Soul Hunter @ DDD
Anyone else watch this series? Thoughts? I read the review linked by GuardianG and it sound interesting.... Thinking about picking it up.

New TRSI's weekly sale has just started.
.hack//SIGN Limited Edition Vol. 2-5 $14.99 each
Vol. 2-4 LE comes with OST 2, .hack//LIMINALITY and .hack//EXTRA CD respectively. Vol. 5 LE comes with a LE CD Box for the 4 CDs from Vol. 1-4 LE.
A better deal than the upcoming .hack//SIGN Complete Collection if you can get Vol. 1 and Vol. 6 in addition to the above LEs.
Btw, Vol. 6 LE comes with episode 28 Unison that won't be available in the upcoming Complete Collection.

Thanks for the heads up on Animeliquidations.com! Picked up the following few things:
- Adventures of Mini-Goddess DVD Box Set - $24.99
- Cardcaptor Sakura Vol. 8: Sweet Trouble - $13.00 (Believe it or not I currently have 1-7, and 9. What are the odds?)
- Variable Geo - $8.99
Only because even when/if DDD's 20% coupon rolls around this year, they still won't be that cheap there. I'm holding off on my big order for DDD's holiday 20% coupon I hope I hope I hope they do it again this year! Mainly because THIS year I actually have money!
