I pretty much figured out that it was probably one of the Ken Burns re-releases, since those were really the only high-ticket items that were becoming 'newly' available today. Well, there was also the ST: Voyager 4-season package, but that hardly qualifies as 'obscure', or whatever the OP called it.

Call me cynical, but the rich irony of this is that I'm willing to bet a good deal of people here who jumped on that "great deal" were really more interested in grabbing a bunch of them for scalping on Ebay, than in actually owning them. Hence, the wonderful idealism of just letting the "true" DVD buffs in on the great deal was probably shot to hell from the get go.

Point taken, LASERMOVIES. The wording in the subject header is everything.

Ken Burns America Set Misprice would have gotten a ton of views, since people hop on misprices knowing that they're obviously super-low.

Ken Burns America $20 would have gotten a lot less views, but the people who knew what the title was would have had enough info to click the thread. Notice also that I removed the keyword "set" from my second subject header.

I don't think it would work that way. First, someone could take the deal and post it on another forum. Second, I'm sure there are a lot of people who click on almost every deal. Third, once the page count of the thread got high, others would click on it just to see what the new popular deal was (which is what happened anyway).

The fact that the deal is dead w/o a straight-forward posting proves you wrong.

And the moral of this story is...

...next time, just post the deal or keep it to yourself and your friends.

How long before this thread gets deleted?
