Where is it best to trade in DVD's for credit?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum but none others seemed to fit. Please move if you feel it should be elsewhere.
I have a couple of large boxes of mainly older titles but it grows weekly. Probably few titles collectors would be interested in & ebay / half.com might be too time consuming so, where is the best place to trade these in for credit these days?
I have the following stores within 20 miles: Blockbuster, FYE, Movie Gallery, and there are a couple of game places (Gamestop may be one?) in a mall about the same distance.
How much do they offer? What is reasonable to accept?
Do you have to be a member of Blockbuster, etc. to do this? Would they freak if I walked in with 30 or 40 at a time?
Thanks

GameStop will give you more if you end up taking their store credit. If you want it in cash then you are going to fork over 20% off the store credit price.
They tend to give around 5-6 for the more recent releases, 3-4 for most of the movies I traded in and 1-2 for movies that they have tons of in their used DVD section.
You can also try ebGames. They offer just about the same price as GameStop.

If you are willing to ship your DVDs Digitaleyes.net is the best.
If you're interested just go to http://www.digitaleyes.net/useddvd.cfm
Shipping is cheap if you use media mail but you may consider getting insurance and delivery confirmation just in case. digitaleyes has the best customer service as well if you should have any problems or questions.
Good luck!

Appreciate all the suggestions.
I'll run some titles through Digital Eyes tonight.

Yes, you trade in movies you need to be a member at Blocbuster (to establish a trade-account). The store credit can be used towards anything in the store (DVD movies, rentals, candy, games..) etc.

Blockbuster is not a bad deal at all. I traded away some truely mediocre DVDs and got my Star Wars set for next to nothing with the 7 rentals. Minimum is $5 even if its a DVD that sells regularly for $5.

Looks like its BBV on October 3.
BTW, tried digitaleyes and the monies they would pay for dvd's is extremely low. Lower than BBV's normal $5.00 on average.

The prices given at Media Play and Disc-Go-Round are atrocious. There weren't any other places in my town to try and trade, but I got $3/disc when I traded 10 discs in to Disc-Go-Round (all outdated non-SE but still...) and at Media Play when you trade 4 old ones for a new release on Tuesday, it shows you what they would have given you cash, and rarely is it over $1. I'm waiting until BBV starts, as they've gotten some decent trade-in discs here so far (just picked up Dancer in the Dark for $9.99).

Don't forget if you are to trade in movies at Blockbuster you can special order anything from their database, granted, most of their prices are extremely overpriced and not worth it but I've scored a few choice foreign films for approximately what I could get them shipped for online all thanks to trading in stuff I wouldn't have gotten as good a price for selling if I hadn't traded them in there. Also, they're running a current special where if you trade in more than three games (ps2, xbox, gba, gcube -- i believe) you'll get an extra $5 per title, you can only do this so many times in one day or at once so trade in 3 or 4 if you have them and rack in some money that you wouldn't even think imaginable for old games if you have them. I think they do $3 per title extra on older games, though I'm not positive. Just though I'd mention it.

If you trade some in some films, or even if you don't,...you can always ask the employee working to look for a title of interest just as though he/she were checking to see if they have a movie in stock, once they pull up that movie they can tell you what the BRP (blockbuster price) of the film to order it for you would be. If they do the $8 trade in deal you could trade in five crap ass titles and order the Criterion version of Fear and Loathing for example, though it wouldn't be the best deal on trading in great titles towards, if you have films you're looking to pawn off, it can add up. Those are just my thoughts though, take them for what they're worth.

iamnothitler - you have a very strange name.
Can you elaborate on your bad experiences with secondspin & how is it determined how much they will give you?
Thanks

If you're going to trade for merchandise I'd suggest trying Warehouse. They do 3 for 1 trade ins for a disc up to $24.99. Works out to be a bit better sometimes than BB's deal of $5 minimum. YMMV.
What's the most anyone's gotten for a disc @ BB, BTW?

Blockbuster used dvd's?
Hi
What does blockbuster do with the used DVD's that you trade in?
I don't go there often as i don't rent. A little while back they were selling some of those traded in but they stopped it.
Have they started again?
Thanks
Patrick

And you get about 50% of what they would charge previewed. Most DVDs sell for 9.99 previewed, which is why they will give you $5.00 for them. Not too shabby. And it should eliminate the crap they get it like they got on the "Big DVD Trade In" program. People would bring in dollar store DVDs and get 9.00 in credit towards a new DVD. That's why they stopped that, they were losing money. And they took ANYTHING. Now you can only trade what is in their system and the trade in value depends on the title.
They will sell the DVDs you trade in as previously viewed titles.

You have to package them well for them and hope that none slip out in the case. On a side note they do offer to ship the rejected ones back free of charge.
The best bet would be BBV on Oct. 3rd.
And no you do not have to buy anything the day you trade with them, unless you want to.
