Ugh. I think I paid $50 for that set last winter at Costco! It's always been that box sets and music DVDs were the safest to buy when released because their prices did not drop; I guess not anymore.
Here's the DVD Talk review. They list all the musical numbers and give you some idea about the scetches included.

I did a little research on Google, and it appears to be that performance--an a capella rendition of the Bob Marley song, followed by her ripping up the pic. I have the performance on fuzzy VHS from the first airing, but it would be cool to have it on DVD.
I just hope they haven't edited out the Pope part. Can anyone verify?

Thanks for posting! Had to jump in on this one as well!
I just noticed that the MSRP is $39.95 on DDD, but was really $59.95. I wonder if this is a general price drop or possibly a miss price?
Either way, great deal! Thanks!

I was hoping it would have more performances from the early years like the first appearances of DEVO, Talking Heads and the B-52s or that song that David Bowie did wearing a dress.
This is a great price on the set though, and I will definitely be ordering it. Thanks for the post.

Here's another detailed review:

It says that the Sinead O'Connor performance is there, but with a serious Lorne Michaels intro.

The Michaels introduction simply sets up the performance, briefly discussing what she did in rehearsal vs. what she did on the air; he also asks viewers to note the studio audience's reaction to O'Connor's actions.
All in all, I've really enjoyed this set...though the performances of some episode "hosts" (Al Frankin, Jay Mohr, Martin Short, etc...) will make many wear out the FF button on their remote.

When the B52s and Devo were on (and I was in High School) everyone was talking about it Monday (especially the B52s), yet they left these off--WTF? This is a good deal, so I still may get it, but if they'd added those two (and better still the Talking Heads as well) I would've paid full price in a minute.

There are probably only about a dozen performances in this set that I'm interested in. I guess that's not bad for $21.27, but pretty terrible for a 5 disc set.

Disk 5 would make a great coaster IMHO. Other than Garbage, Beck and to some extent No Doubt, that sucker contains some of the recent groups at the top of my "suck" list.

I was thinking they may have done Psycho Killer, but I could be thinking of something else. Still, I also remember being blown away by seeing DEVO and the B-52s for the first time on those SNL appearances and how new and different it seemed at the time.
Back in those days before MTV, you could only see performances of bands by staying up late to watch SNL, The Midnight Special or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert (or later on, "Night Flight" on USA or "Friday Night Videos") Now, videos are so commonplace even MTV doesn't show them anymore.
