Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not pissy or anything like that which would need LIghtening up. I just think perhaps forum members could take a deep breath before posting and figure out which forum section would best fit the desired subject their thread is pointing it.

I wouldn't call $13.59 a bargain. That's just the discount price from $19.99.

Top Gun used to be one of my favorite movies from the '80s, but in today's world, I'm not sure it's aged well. Too Cold War-ish.

Too bad the instruction video doesn't include Spelling 101.

In addition to posting a thread in the appropriate forum, I'd recommend posting the price in the subject line. $13.59 uses the same amount of characters as cheap! and doesn't keep DVDTalkers in suspense as to how cheap cheap is.

How is that a problem since it took place during the Cold War?

Did Master & Commander suck because it was too 1800s-ish?

I imagine the DVDEmpire price is a better deal if you consider ordering more DVDs to take advantage of their coupons and free shipping. Otherwise go with DDD if you are only interested in the single title. Also I am sure this would be available through Columbia House and would make a good fulfillment title, or enrollment if you are willing to wait.

Jack's not an Admin... he just likes to think he is. But, shhhhhhh... don't tell him.

As for the deal... what makes this SE better than the $10 bargain bin version? Anyone know?

Sold my original but if my memory serves me well....the 1st release was not anamorphic and had no special features. This new release is a must buy for me!!!

Yes, the old version is not anamorphic and is bare bones. It is a pretty primitive DVD by current standards.

Got the first one the day after I bought my DVD player (would have gotten it earlier if I could find it) and it was the first movie I bought on VHS (when it was new).

Can't wait for an anamorphic special edition! This is one of the greatest films of all time.

The widescreen version is letterboxed, not anamorphic. So the resolution is pretty low.

And it is dual layer, but they split the two versions per layer, so each version fits on a single layer, which means that the bitrate is pretty low.
