DVD Talk Link to Blockbuster Online Rental Service

Blockbuster is offering a free trial for their
new online rental program to compete
with Netflix.

The standard trial is 2 weeks + 2 B&M
rental coupons. After that it is $19.99
per month for 3 out (you can cancel anytime).

However, use promotional code:
cooper (must be lowercase)
and you will get a 4 week trial. Plus, the
price will drop to $17.99 for 3 out if you decide to stay.

Regardless, you can sign up to get the 2 B&M coupons through e-mail.
Print them and cancel immediately if you want to .

Sounds like a great deal, I've never used one of these online rental places yet, is there anything bad about blockbuster's that I'm not seeing?

Will they have alot of copies of new releases? That's my one knock against Netflix. They never have enough of the new titles when it comes out.

Just wanted to add that this is a beta site and it pays to be patient.
If a page fails to load go back and try it again. I've been told that BB has 10 distribution centers so far, but I don't know where they're
located.

It might be helpful to share experiences as well so that others
have some idea of turn around time.

Checkout your local BB is have better deal $15 for 1st month (Movie Pass) then $25 per month after that. (You can cancel your movie pass after 1st month is over)

You can check 2 movies out every time you visit (Up to 62 movies per month) or keep 2 movies as long as you like (no late fee includes NEW RELEASE).

$15 Movie Pass deal expire September.

Super-hot deal - the two free store rentals alone are worth signing up for.

I'm about 80 miles from my regional shipping center and never get a DVD in less than 2 days after they ship it. And it takes at least two days for them to get one back and process it. So with the 3 out at a time plan I am averaging 3 per week which is about what I watch.

I received one broken DVD and they shipped the same one back to me after I informed them that I had received a damaged DVD and returned it. They have a few bugs to work out.

Anyone know how long this deal will last? I just signed up for the Movie Pass and plan to cancel after the first month, so I would like to sign up for the free online rentals at the end of this month.

I signed up on 7/19/04 and as of today have received 12 movies. It helps that I'm up all night with a newborn baby so I just watch movies all night. I'm located in Seattle btw.

I'd like to know what some of the return addresses are on the mailers for Blockbuster. We could probably come up with the list of the ten distributions centers they are using.

Signed up. Where can I see the shipping centers. I think they have many more titles than the stores, at least for the older catalog releases, (recent DVD releases of older movies).

Distribution centers, borrowed from FW:

Charlotte, NC
Dallas, TX
Denver, CO
Lansing, MI
Miami, FL
Minnesota (city unknown)
Flushing, NY
Sacramento, CA
Santa Ana, CA
Seattle, WA

I'm in Kentucky and mine come from Lansing, MI. Shipping has been running 2-3 days one way (Netflix is 1-2 days here), and the website is terribly slow and annoying. I know it's in beta, but it's ridiculous having to log in every 5 minutes. I'm using the free trial to get some titles that Netflix doesn't carry. The nearest B&M Blockbuster is 20 miles away so the 2 free in-store rentals don't do a thing for me.

Thanks taronga. I was hoping for one in the Wash, DC area. Looks like it would be NC or NY for mine. I'd probably have the same turn around time that I have with Walmart. I'm tempted to try them although I'm pretty happy with Walmart. Been a member for awhile and they still send me new releases right away.

I'm plenty happy with Netflix, but i signed up for this deal to try it out. They do have some stuff that netflix doesnt carry (superbits, re-releases), i'll have to wait and see how fast the shipping is...

Add: Does seem like alot of the titles in my queue have a long wait

so where do you enter the code "cooper" to get the free month?
I don't see it anywhere on the website.
