When I entered the propmotional code it stated that I had a 4 week trial and was called friends and family, after entering the cc info and to accept it the next page changed the trial back to 2 weeks. I sent in a complaint. We will see.

I just got my first movie from them, and it's the wrong movie. I had American Nightmare with Debbie Rochon on my queue, but they sent me The American Nightmare, which is a documentary. Not too difficult of a mistake to make but still. I double checked the one they shipped to see if maybe I accidentally selected the wrong one, but I didn't. I reported the problem and told them to ship the movie again, hopefully I get the right one this time.

I signed up at about 2am on Tuesday and they shipped at 10am that day. I received two today, Before Sunrise and George Washington: Criterion. I will be shipping them out tomorrow.
They apparently shipped the 2-disc of JFK, though...
So far, I'm liking this.

Worthwhile deal...
Signed up a day or two ago and first three discs shipped out same day. Got one in today -- other two will probably come tomorrow. None of the places I've tried so far have been as good as Netflix -- but Blockbuster's entry into the online DVD rental market is certainly worth trying out. You get a whole month's free trial with the code and should at least be able to get 12-15 DVDs depending on where you are located and how fast you ship back the discs. The two coupons for free rentals each month is a nice touch -- already cashed them in while I was waiting for the first discs to arrive. We'll see how fast the shipping is and how long it takes to get some of the website problems cleared up -- but overall it seems like a good service. I'm all for this one succeeding as strong competition ultimately might bring Netflix prices down ;-)

Awesome! I just ended a free one month trial with Wal-Mart online, and now this. I am in Tampa so with a center in Miami I should get my movies very fast.

Got my first one today...shipped on 8/10, 1 arrived today (8/12), assuming the other two come tomorrow. So three days to get here, will see how long it takes for them to receive and send out more.
Pretty good service and quality discs so far.

Here's a story on the new service. I post it because I found this interesting:
Unfortunately there are no BB in my state.
The Blockbuster Online service is expected to be fully integrated and combined with the store-based subscription programs in 2005, the company said. "If a customer is in our store and wants to return a movie they rented online, we'll be able to accommodate them," says Shane Evangelist, Blockbuster vice president and general manager of Blockbuster Online. "If a member rents primarily in-store, but wants a hard-to-find title we don't typically carry in-store, he or she will be able to go online and get it. It's a matter of maximizing convenience and choice."

What affect do you think this would have on Netflix if BB successfully
merges the store-based and online service?
I know that Netflix may still offer a better selection of some titles,
but would Blockbuster become much more attractive if you knew you could rent that hot new release at the B&M (where they have plenty of copies) and return online?
Another, though unrelated, question, has anyone signed up for BB online without having used the B&M before?
Of course, in order to use the 2 in-store coupons, a B&M account
will have to be set up.

Signed up on Monday. Received the 1st movie yesterday. Watched it last night, sent it back this morning. No problem.
Received the next 2 discs today. I knew I was taking a risk, but I ordered the 9th bonus disc of the Alien set. Not surprisingly, they sent me the wrong disc - it's the 4th disc of the set, the Aliens bonus disc. This one goes back. The other disc received today (Schizopolis) has a 1 inch crack from the center of the disc. I can't even put this in the player. It goes back, too.
I'm not angry - I understand that these things happen, but I don't see myself sticking around once the trial ends.

For me, BB is going to get my business.
My fancy smancy mailbox doesn't have a way for me to leave mail for the carrier to pick up. So I have to drop it off at a mailbox.
Better to drop the movies off at Blockbuster in their dropbox which will probably lead to the movie beings scanned as returned and something shipped out that same day.
Plus the two e-coupons is great for those few times when you are in between movies and want to get a new release to watch.
Of course, Netflix is working on a broadband delivery method. So ultimately they might get my business back if they can introduce a system with DVD quality.

Just two days ago I saw this financial news blurb...
Blockbuster's already clobbering Netflix. Shares in Netflix fell $1.03 to $16.11 after Blockbuster said it was launching its own version of an Internet movie rental service.
Blockbuster will try to swipe customers by letting them order up to three movies at a time for a monthly subscription of $19.99. Netflix charges $21.99 a month for a similar service.
