Official - ANIME Bargains! - Thread [updated daily...or close to it] - July

WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL ANIME BARGAINS THREAD

Below are ANIME (as well as the occassional Anime-related stuff like Manga) deals for the month of JULY. Please post your deals here as all new deals will be reposted to this first thread on a daily (or close to it) basis.

ANIME bargains from APRIL can be found HERE
ANIME bargains from MAY can be found HERE
ANIME bargains from JUNE can be found HERE

A new thread will be started each month as to keep the number of posts managable and the deals current. This thread is a work-in-progress, so feel free to message/email me wth any suggestions on how it can be improved upon. And maybe if there is enough interest and participation, we'll actually get a sub-forum of our own.

Over at AOD, I came across an excellent FAQ regarding pirated Anime, and as we are purchasers of Anime, I thought some of you may find the FAQ helpful. I know I did. Here's the DigitalAnime FAQ.

And now, here are the...

Rightstuf also has Rahxephon 1: Threshold for $9.99. I now wish that I had not paid $14.39 for it at DDD.

I agree its a good show but I wouldn't even call that an ending, Just skip the last couple eps and start with vol 8 or 9 of the manga. It just keeps on going.

Anyone know a place or if it's possible to just purchase empty anime DVD artboxes? Not special ones like the ones Paul Champagne designs but the studio boxes for shows like Last Exile, Gungrave, Comic Party, etc., without having to buy the discs themselves. I just want the boxes.

UKingdom, you could probably post a thread in the DVD Exchange forum listing the artboxes you're looking for and find DVDTalk members who'd be willing to sell their artboxes cheaply or trade for DVDs.

I for one convert most of my anime DVDs to Thinpaks and so don't care about art boxes.

Somedays Dreamers vol 3 $15.49 at overstock. This seems to be a really popular title to misprice.

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2....PROD_ID=696711

As for the deal at amazon in the summary, If there is a bootleg of that title available I wouldn't recommend going for it. I ordered the Escaflowne set from a seller on there. It was listed as used, and didn't make any mention of it only being 3 disks or all region. I even looked through all the other dvds the seller had listed. That was the only anime they had. I ordered it and a few days later I recieved the bootleg. Amazon's used system isn't any better than ebaywhen it comes to bootlegs. If anything its worse since the sellers tend to give less detail.

jetjaguar69 got a legit copy so that is good enough for me. But yeah bootlegs have infested amazon's marketplace , usually pays to email the seller first and ask a few questions. But I have had luck on there before, got Ranma season 3 for 50 shipped.

Target will be carrying Gungrave for $14.99. The date on the label strip was 7/18. Not sure if every store gets their new product sets at the same time or if it varies from region to region.

Anyone else have luck with getting Gungrave at Target? Went to two Targets today, and neither seemed to have it stocked. One even had a devoted anime section.
