This is a great deal - especially if you don't already own the titles. I was about to "upgrade" my existing Patriot DVD, but after reading many on-line reviews, the difference on this title appears to be non-existent (video), so the only real upgrade reason would be DTS. You also lose the commentary track.
Just FYI.
Here are some of the reviews I read:
http://www.dvdfile.com/software/revi...riot_sbde.html
http://www.videophile.info/Review/Pa...Patriot_01.htm
(the above has some REALLY good superbit comparisons and reviews)

Can anyone answer my question about the Region 3 Superbits? Are the covers in english with packaging like the US release, only labeled as Region 3? Has anyone ever seen a Region 3 superbit? Pics would be great, but not necessary.

I don't understand what the confusion is. It's not like these are bootlegs or something. If you go to the website, they have pictures up of the boxes. Are the boxes that important that you're willing to pass up an offer like this on something of such high quality?

more info on superbit encoding
I figured I would pass this along. The following is from a buyer @ CDWow.com. My email to CS was forwarded to one of the buyers; I got the reply this morning.
Hi Vince,
Superbit DVDs are not regionally coded and will play on all DVD players.
Thank you very much for your enquiry, and please visit the DVD Box Office
again soon, as we update the titles we stock on a daily basis.
Best Regards,
David
Anyway, I know that had been discussed in depth, but I didn't think it would hurt to provide a credible source - no offense Bill.

R1 superbits with the outside aluminum slip case is sort of double layered, which make them thicker. The DVD case used is amaray, or double amaray for 2 disk sets.
R3 superbits with the outside aluminum slip case is only single layered, so thinner. The DVD case is not amaray. The 2 disc box used is those cheapo box we get from R3 DVDs

Hello Everyone,
I just received my Patriot Superbit in the mail today, talk about fast service. I immediatly tried it out and it plays exactly like all of my other Region 1 superbits. Everything is in English and the packaging on the outside is the exact same with a few small differences.
The UPC code area is totally white with no bar codes and the UPC numbers are extremely small. The cover and dvd has the 3 to denote region 3, but will infact play in a standard region 1 player. The cover also does not have the blue box below the title "The Patriot" Deluxe, but it is indeed deluxe as it has two dvds inside.
When opening the DVD case instead of having a hinge that the first DVD goes into and having the insert on the back of the front cover, there is a double dvd case with nipples on both sides of the case for the first and second dvd. The insert is in the middle with a small notch to hold it in place.
All in all there are very little differences between the two and it is infact quite a bargain to get The Patriot Superbit for $10.95 when the Region 1 DVD is at Best Buy for $24.95.
I played the first 10 minutes of the DVD with DTS sound and all works and plays well.
