That was my first thought on seeing the thread title. I gave a big, "Uh oh."
I was a huge fan of Clowes work from the late 90s to early 2000s. Eightball
consistently put out some of the best comics I read during that era. I thought he was really doing terrific stuff when he moved away from the anthology format, and made each issue focus on a specific story (Ice Haven, The Death Ray.)
I haven't been as enamoured with his recent efforts. I didn't care for Mr. Wonderful
, and I thought that Wilson
really crapped out after a terrific beginning. I haven't read his latest book.
The Ghost World
movie is a strange beast. I really dislike how the movie shut-out Rebecca so it could focus on Enid and Seymour. Art School Confidential
turned out real messy too.
Another cartoonist I keep wondering about his Chris Ware. I think it's been almost a decade since the last chapter of the Rusty Brown story. Is he not doing that anymore?
